Our volunteer firemen are al- ways ready to protect and seivc their community to the best of their ability. All they ask is co- operation from the people. The monthly meeting\ was held at the firehouse February 2>. The fire drill to be held Febru- ary f> (Sunday morning\ ) was can- celed because of the storm. College Admission Examination Dates Set ALBANY — An admissions ex- amination for applicants to a ' .l State University-operated colleges, except the medical colleges , will be held March 4 at 48 testing- centers in many parts of the state , and March 5 in New York City. Applications must be post- marked not later than February 13. Students should write to tiu colleges in which they are in- terested for the necessary forms. App licants for admission to the following- collesres are required to take the examination : Harpur College , Colleges of Education (Albany. R r o c k p o r t, Buffalo , Cortland , Fredonia. Geneseo . New Paltz , Onc-onta. Many Events , Activities Mark Boy Scout Week A wide variety of events and activities are being held through- out the area in celebration of Boy Scout Week , February 7-13 , it was announced by Howard Newins , public i-elations chairman for Suffolk County Council , Boy Scouts of America. Under the national theme for the fifty-first anniversary of the founding- of the Bov Scouts of® : America , \Strengthen America — Character Counts , \ the council' s 13 , 500 Cub Scouts , Boy Scouts , Ex- plorers and volunteer leaders are involved in activities with public officials and with the community institutions that sponsor Scouting units. February 8 , actual anniversary date of the founding of the Boy Scouts of America in 1910 , was hig hlighted b y members of each unit rededicating themselves to the Scout oath and law. Traditional Boy Scout Sabbath and Boy Scout Sunday services will be held tomorrow , Saturday and Sunday at many churches and synagogues with Scouts taking part , and sermons built around Boy Scout ideals and purposes. Many organizations are devoting their meetings and luncheons to special Boy Scout programs. On February 27 , a special report on Boy Scout activities this past year will be made to the Suffolk County Board of Supervisors in Riverhead by selected Scouts. Sim- ilar reports will be made to all state governors and at the White House in Washington , D. C , dur- ing the week. An estimated 0.000 local boy members will be recognized for having earned the Fiftieth Anni- versary Achievement award , a spe- cial permanent patch created espe- cially for Scouting ' s Golden Jubi- lee Year in 1960. To earn this award , each boy earned personal achievement in rank , recruited a new member , kept himself fit , rendered service to others , and took part in last Fall' s Get-Out-the-Vote campaign. Mr. Newins also announced that 200 units in the area are eligible to receive the President Eisen- hower streamer or unit award for having over 50 per cent of their boys earn the personal Fiftieth An- niversary Achievement award. There will also be meetings with parents as guests , unit reunions , functions honoring \ new Eagle Scouts , Scout handicraft exhibits , window displays , observances in schools , and courts of honor in which Scouts will be honored for their accomplishments. Arab Republic Problems To Be Aired Tomorrow Dr. Omar Ghobashy, information officer of the consulate general of the United Arab Republic , will speak on the economic and politi- cal problems of his country, in the last of a series of programs on \The Uncommitted N ations , \ at 8 p. m. tomorrow at Guild Hall , East Hampton. The American As- sociation of University Women and the Education Committe e of Guild Hall are co-sponsors for the pro- gram, which was ori ginally sche- duled for January 20 , but was postponed because of the snow storm. Also on the program will be members of the Junior keglei set. Larry Puglise , an eight year old from Huntington will face Charles Stephani and Toni Fuocco in subsequent matches. Donations to the tourna- ment will be given to the Asso- ciation for the Help of Retarded Children of Suffolk County, lo- cated in Patchogue. Varie ty Show Fri., Sat, The month of February has many important dates for Mr. and Mrs. Martin Ragl of Jamaica Avenue , Holtsville. On St. Wen- tine ' s day 50 years ago they oloped and were married b y Pas- tor Frey at St. Mark' s Luthera n Church in Brooklyn. They also celebrate their birth- days this month. Mrs. Ragl was born in Brooklyn in 1880 and was 72 Februa ry 2. Mr. Ragl was hor;' in Munich . Germany, in 1890 and was 71 February ^. He was brought, to the United States States when he was a year old. They have two children , Mrs. Helen Vincent of Manhattan , and '1 heodore , who lives in Crystal Lake . Conn. Their children are giving them a trip to Florida as a special anniversary gift. The Rairls moved to Holtsville in 1 950 after Mr. Ragl retired from the Loew ' s Hillside Movie Theatre where he was a projec- tionist for 20 years. Since their move here , they have been active in civic affairs. Mrs. Ragl has b'-en working with the Girl Scouts for many years. For the past three years she has been registrar of the Centra l Suffolk Girl Scout Council. They are members of the Farmingville-Holtsville Civics As- sociation and Mr. Ragl served as its president for four years. He a!so was president of the Youth Advisory G roup for three years. Mrs. Ragl is a member of the Eastern Star , Springfield Garden Chapter and Mr. Ragl is a mem- ber of the Dongan Patent Masonic Lodge in Medford. They are mem- bers of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Ronkonkoma. Mi* , and Mrs. Ragl both agree that good companionshi p and keep- ing active are important for a happy marriage.
