New York , on Jan- uary 9. 1961, a proposed Local Law No. 1 of the Year 1961. en- titled , \A LOCAL LAW AMEND- ING LOCA L LAW NO. 3 FOR THE YEAR 19f>0\ . which proposed Local L a w r e a d s as follows: -LOCAL LAW NO . 1-YEAR 19rU COUNTY OF SUFFOLK. NEW YORK BE IT ENACTED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF Tri E COUNTY OF SUFFOLK AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Local Law No. 3 ol the vcar 19 H 0 of this Countv en- titled. \A LOCAL LAW CREAT- ING THE SUFFOLK COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY\ is hereb y amended to read as follows: Sec 'i'Ti I. That pursuant to Sec- tion Three hundred one , subdivis- ion 5 of the County Law of the , S T -no of Now York and Section two hundred two of the Suffol k County Charter , there is hereb y created the Surf oik Count y De- partment of Commerc e and In- dustry . Section ^ [L Tlie Suffolk Count y Depart meri t of Commerce and In- dustry shall provide an o fficial county source of information con- cerning business, commerce, in- dustry and the general economy of Suffolk County; shall work in cooperation with all Town and County planning and zoning agencies on problems concerning. transportation , resources and use of land , insofar as such problems relate to County commerce and industry into Suffolk Countv. The fundamenta l aim and pur- pose of the depa r tment shall be to aid existing business and in- dustry and to encourage and s e- cure the start of new husiness and ind ustry in the Count y of \ Suffolk. \ ( Section III. This Local Law shal 1 take effe?t on January 1 , 1961 after comp letion of publication and filing as required by law. ) Section III. The head of the de- partment of commerce and in - dustry shall b e a county com- merce and ind ustry - commission consisting of twelve members. The members of the commission shall be appointed by the county executive with the approval of the board of supervisors for t erm s of three years, except that o f the mem b ers fi rst appointed fo ur each shall be appo inted for te rm s of one . two and three years respectively. The county executive , commissioner of pub- lic works , a membe r of the boa rd of supervisors to be desi gnated by the chairman thereof and the regi onal manager of the depart- ment of commerce of the State of New York sha ll be ex- officio members of said c ommission. Section IV. The _ commerce and industry commission shall se 1 ect from its o wn m embers a. chair- m an and vice cha i rman and shall ad opt its own rules of procedure and rules for th e conduct of the department. Wi thin the ap pro- pria t ion s _jherefo r and when au- thorized by the c ounty executive , it ma v employ such consultants , cl erical and other employees as may be nece s sary . Section V. Mullcr of Wood Road , Centereach , who has been working- for banks for 50 vears. has retired from lv^ position with the Lonjr Island Trust Company after 20 years of service. . Mr. Mullcr , who was in charge of the bank' s East Garden City office, retired as assistant vice president. He began his banking career as a check clerk with the Manufacturers Trust Company in 1007. He remained with this or- ganization for 32 years until he j oined the Long Island Trust Com- panv in September 1040. Formerly a member of the Queens County Grand Jurors As- sociation and a Democratic com- mitteeman for Queens County, Mr. Mulier is presently treasurer oi the Holv Name Society, trustee of the Blessed Virgin Mary R. C. Church of Centereach and a mem- ber of the First Friday Club of Garden City. Mr Mulier lives with his wite, Hetty, on Wood Road . Centereach. They have two children , a son. John F. Mulier , Jr., of Hicksville and a daug hter. Mrs. Florence Ko- be! of Floral Park and 10 grand- children. Thev lost a son in wond War II. , On December 29 , a group of his co-workers gave Mr. Mulier a fa rewell party at the Wheatley Hills Tavern in Westbury.
