Max Kurtz in Fort Lauderdale. Mr. and Mrs. DeVerne Swezey of Namkee Road entertained 26 people at a buffet supper Monday night in honor of the fiftieth wed- ding anniversary of Mrs. Swezey ' s parents , Mr- , and Mrs. Alan Swan of Brightwaters. Among the guests were Mr - , and Mrs . Swan ' s son and wife , Mr. and Mrs. George Swan , and daughter , Priscilla , of Patchogue. A meeting of the Blue Point Parent-Teacher Association will be held next week in the school auditorium and all member s are requested to note this meeting is on a Monday, January 9, instead of Tuesday 7 and will begin at 8 p. m. Jack Fechter , a representative of the Board of Cooperative Educat- ional Services , will be the guest speaker and will speak on its \Functions , Purposes and Benefits \ . A daughter , Joann , weighing 6 pounds 3 ounces , was born Decem- ber 31 in Brookhaven Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Baer of 23 Barrow Place. Mr. and Mrs. Baer are also the parents of a daughter , Ellen , who was three years old Monday. HOME EXTENSION The Home Extension Unit will meet at the firehouse at 10 a. m. today. There will be a business meeting in the morning, luncheon and , at 1 p. m., Mrs. Dorothy Pet- erson of the Suffolk County TB and Public Health Association will present a \Health Day Program. \ The first chair caning lesson will be given January 12 from 10 a. m. to 3 p. m. and will be taugh t by Mrs. Clara Tremper. Lessons 2 and 3 will be given January 19 and 26. GOLDEN AGE CLUB The Golden Age Club met De- cember 27 at the Blue Point fire- house , at which time their Christ- mas party was held , which had been previousl y postponed because of the December 13 storm. A cov- ered dish supper was served at 7 p. m. after which Santa Clause , played hy Henry Schmidt , distrib- uted gifts. Christmas carols were sung, accompanied by Mrs. Ray Ovens at the piano. Hostesses for the evening were Mrs . Emma Ruhl , Mrs. Mae Cozine , Miss Ellen Truman and Mrs. Estelle Kuntz. Birthdays celebrated during De- cember included those of Mrs. Anna Morgan , Mrs. Edith Jones , George Husing, Mrs. Julia Coupe and Mrs. Grace Cassidy. Anniver- saries celebrated during the month included those of Mr. and Mrs . Roland Knapp and also Mr. and Mrs. Herbert George , the latte r presented with a flower arrange- ment for- their' fi ftieth wedding an- niversary. It was reported that rookies had been delivered before Christmas to twenty-two elderly people b y Mr- , and Mrs . Ray Ovens and Mrs. Frieda Boyd on behalf of the club , and that a Christmas card , signed by all member's , had been sent to a former president of the club , Fred Abrams and to Mrs . Abrams , who is recuperating from a recent illness. Dancing was en- joyed by all. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT A large group of firemen, their wives and friends had an enjoyable New Year ' s eve at the Blue Point Firehouse. Refreshments were ser- ved with the \Chordsmon \ supp l y- ing music for dancing and enter - tainment. The- committee for the event, included Stanley Rhodes, chairman , assisted by John Oori- sidine , William Webster- and Char- les Wernig. About noon Saturday , the fire - men were called to extinguish a fire at the Garhart Greenhouses at 11 Danes Street. The boiler shed. which was comp lete l y aflame when the firemen arrived , was a com- plete loss. At I 1:25 a. ni. Monday the alarm was sounded for' a fire at 39 Mon- tauk Highway. This was a small fire , confined to the roar entry of the home and quickl y exting- uished by the vamps. THE BAPTIST CHURCH About 40 people enjoyed the New Year ' s Eve watch li g ht ser- vice sponsored b y the Young People ' s Society. Everyone was greeted in the Fellowshi p room where a fire had been lit in the fireplace, and songs were sung between 10:30 p. m. and 11 p. m., after- which refreshments were ser-ved in the dining room until 11:3,0 till midnight , when a service, led by Lewis Worra d , Jr., was held in the auditorium with special music supp lied b y Nancy Butler- , Sharon Tuttle , Patricia Land and Lewis Worrad , Jr. , and a short sermon , delivered b y the Rev. I. A. Falk. The service terminated at midnight with the ringing of the church bell and an interchang e of New 7 Year ' s greetings. A service enti rely of music , vo- cal and instrumental , was pre- sented at the evening service 7:3,0 Sunday. Lewis Worrad , Sr., was in charge of the hymn sing, as- sisted by Mrs. Eugene Rogers , or- ganist , and Mrs . I. A. Falk , pian- ist. Included were- a vocal duet by Sharon Tuttle and Nancy Butler and a trio by the same girls and Patricia Land. Mrs. Sheila Mac- Lean and Henry Schwab rendered vocal solos and instrumental music was supplied b y Mrs. Falk on the piano and Patricia Connell y on the accordion. The Women ' s Union was held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Fred Hillman on Maple Street. Services for the coming week include White Cross Mi ssionary Society from 10:30 a. m. to 3 p. m. and Bible Study and Prayer ser- vice at 8 p. m. today; Monthly meeting of the church board , at 8 ]>. nr. tomorrow and Bible School hou r at 9:45 a. m.; M orning wor- ship at 11 a. m. and Evening hymn sing and gospel message at 7:3,0 p. m. all on Sunday; Young Peo- p le ' s meeting in the Fellowshi p room at 7:30 p. m. Monday; Senior Choir rehearsal at 8 p. m. Tues- day and release-time class at the church at 2 p. m. Wednesday. At 8 p. m. January 11 , the Dor- cas Circle will meet at the home of Mrs. Pierson Van Orstrand of Eatondale Avenue. The annual church meeting will be held at 8 p. m. January 13. OUR LADY OF THE SNOW Daily masses at Our- Lady of the Snow R. C. Church are celebrated at 8 a. m. and Sunday masses , at 8 , 9. 10 and 1 1 a. m. and 12:15 p, m. Baptisms are held at 3 p. m. Subject to the pro- visions of the Local Finance Law , the power to authorize the issu- ance of and to sell bond anticipa- tion notes in anticipation of the issuance and sale of the serial bonds herein authorized , including renewals of such notes , is hereby delegated to the Count y Comp- troller , the chief fiscal officer. Such notes shall be of such terms , form and contents , and shall be sold in such manner , as may be prescribed by said County Comptroller , con- sistent with the provisions of the Local Finance Law 7 . Section 5. The faith and credit of the County 7 of Suffolk , New York , are hereb y irrevocabl y p ledged for the payment of the principal of and interest on such obli gations as the same respective- ly become due and payable. An an- nual appropriati on shall be made in each year sufficient to pay the principal of and interest on such obligations becoming due and pay- able in such year. There shall an- nually be raised by tax upon all the taxable property within said County 7 a sum sufficient to pay the principal of and interest on such obligations as the same become due and payable. Section 6. The validity of such obligations may be contested onl y if 1. Such obligations are author- ized for an object or purpose for which the County of Suf- folk is not authorized to ex- pend money, or 2. The provisions of law which should be complied with at the date of publication of this resolution are not substan- tially complied with , and an action , suit or proceeding contesting such validity is com- menced within twenty days after the date of such publication , or 3. Such obligations are author- ized in violation of the pro- visions of the Constitution. Section 7.
