NOTES ON NUPTIALS HUGHES—BARTIIELMES Miss Barb a r a Barthclmes , daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Barthclmes of Center Moriches , became the bride of Edward J. Hughes , son of Mr. and Mrs. James Hughes of Seaford , at a nuptial mass at 11 a. m. October 8 in St. John the Evangelist R. C. Church , Center Moriches. The Rev. Mat- thew Wisniewski officiated. The altar was decorated with bouquets of white gladioli. Given in marriage by her father , > the bride wore a gown of satin and Chantilly lace with a high Sabrina neckline , trimmed with seed pearls. The chapel-length gown had long pointed sleeves of Chantilly lace. Her fingertip illusion veil was held by a crown of seed pearls and shimmering rhinestones. She carried an orchid with stephanotis on the streamers on a prayer book. The inatron-of-honor was Mrs. Elizabeth Flaherty of Brooklyn, who wore a waltz-length gown of romance blue silk organza accented by a deeper blue bow at the bodice. Her headp iece was a band of small leaves in matching velvet , and veiling. She carried a cascade of gold and bronze pompons. Mrs. Elsie Tebbens of Center Moriches and Mrs. Mary Procopio of North Babylon were the brides- maids. Their gowns and headpieces were' similar to those worn b y the matroii-of-honor. They carried gold pompons. James Hughes of Brooklyn was best man. The ushers were Rob- ert Hughes and Thomas F. Flaher- ty, both of Brooklyn. A reception for about 125 guests was held at the Sunrise Restaurant , Center Moriches , where a turkey dinner was served. Music was by the Peter Mezzapelle Band. The couple left by plane to spend a week in Bermuda. They are re- siding at 31)0 Main Street , Center Moriches. The bride attended Bishop Mc- Donnell High School in Brooklyn and is a graduate of Center Mor- iches High School. She is employed as a secretary at the Elementary School in Center Moriches. Her husband is a graduate of St. Augustine ' s High School in Brooklyn, attended St. John ' s Uni- versity and is employed as a drafts - man by the New York Telephone Company, Smithtown. TIED KM A NX—KOZAK Miss Mary Ann Kozak , daugh- ter uf Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Kozak of Gould Road , Centereaeh , be- came the bride of Robert Tiede- inann , son of Mr. and Mrs. John Tiedermann of West First Street , Ronkonkoma , at -1 p. m. Saturday. The Rev. Joseph Belfiore officiat- ed at the double ring ceremony in The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary R. C. Church , Cen- tereaeh. The altar was decorated with bouquets of white carnations , g l . dioli , , and step hanotis and Mrs. Shirley Sicgrist p layed the wed- dih' g ' ' selection and sang \Ave Maria \ . Given in marriage by her father the bride wore a ny lon tulle and Chantilly lace gown. The skirt of tulle featured a chapel train and was appliqued around the bottom. The dropped torso line Chantilly lace bodice had a sabrina neckline trimmed with sequins and seed pearls anil had long pointed sle- eves. Her fingertip veil was held with a crystal crown and she car- ried a cascade bouquet of whit. - g ' adioli and step hanotis with an orchid center. Miss Joan Kozak , sister of the bride , was the maid-of-honor. She wore a floor-length gown of peach French satin and nylon with a full skirt and short sleeves. She. wore a matching headpiece crown of horsehair with crystal beads , and carried a bouquet of small- rust colored mums. Miss Grace Jane Tiedemann , sister of the bridegroom , was the bridesmaid. She wore peacock blue floor-length gown made like the maid-of-honor ' s , with a matching crown headpiece and carried a bouquet of yellow mums. Joh n Tiedemann , brother of the bridegroom , was the best man. The usher was Robert Kreed of Ron- konkoma. A reception was \ held at the Holhrook Hotel , Holbrook , for about 80 relatives and friends. Music was furnished by the Half- beats. The couple left on a week' s honeymoon in Vermont and upon their return will reside on Park Street , Centereaeh. The bride is a graduate of Port Jefferson High School and is em- ployed with Jay Plastic ' s in Pat- chogue. The bridegroom is a graduate of Sayville High School , has ser- ved four years in the Navy and is employed in the Sheriff' s Of- fice of Suffolk County. JARENTOWITZ—THOMPSON Miss Carol Thompson , daug hter of Mr. and Mrs. James Ross Thompson of 398 Brown ' s Road , Lake Ronkonkoma , became the bride of Joseph Jarentowitz , son of Mr. and Mrs . Joseph B. Jaren- towitz of •! A1 jan Drive , Brent- wood , at a nuptial mass at 12 noon Saturday, in St. Joseph' s R. C. Churc h , Lake Ronkonkoma. Monsignor Leo Gregg of Poug h- keepsie , cousin of the bride , per- formed the double ring ceremony before an altar dec-orated with w li i t e chrysanthemums. Mrs. Walter Bigler played the wedding marches on the organ and accom- panied the soloist , Burt Downer of Bayport. Given in marriage by her father. the bride wore a floor-length gown of silk organza over taffeta , with a wide square neck , three- quarter length sleeves , and a bouffant skirt. She wore a kerchief veil of silk organza, fingertip length , and carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and ivy. .Mrs. Vincent Wood , Jr., of Lake Ronkonkoma , a sister of the bride, was niatron-of-honor. She wore a street-length copper color gown of silk , lined with gold with a square neck and three-quarter length sleeves. She wore a gold ribbon for her headp iece and carried a bouquet of c;old chrysanthemums trimmed with bronze chrysanthe- mums. Mrs. Jack Zimmerman of Dover, Del., another sister of the bride, and Miss Carol Grant of Bayside were bridesmaids. Their gowns were made like the matron-of- honor ' s. They wore copper color ribbon for their headpieces , and carried a bouquet of bronze chry- santhemums trimmed with gold chrysanthemums. Joseph Matzerath of St. Albans was best man. John Reill y of Bethpage , and James Ross Thomp- son , Jr. , of Lake Ronkonkoma , brother of the bride , were the ushers. Following the wedding ceremony, a reception for 100 guests was held at Frevola ' s in Smithtown , where white flowers decorated the tables. After a wedding tri p to the Pocono Mountains , Mr. and Mrs. Jarentowitz will live in Farming- dale. The bride is a graduate of Seton Hall High School in Pat- chogu e and was emp loyed by the Bayliss Fuel Oil Company in Ron- konkoma. Her husband is a grad- uate of St. Agnes Academy in New York and attended St. John ' s University. He is emp loyed by the General Motors Corporation in New York. The bridegroom was discharged from the United States Army in June of this year , after serving two years as a paratrooper. DERBY—KRETIC Before an altar banked with white mums and white roses , Miss Margaret Louise Kretic , daughter of Mr . and Mrs. Pat Salvatore of 5 Park Avenue , Patchogu e , was married at 4 p. m., October 9 to James Gordon Derby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Derb y of 521 Lenox Avenue, East Patchogue , in Our Lady of the Snow R. C. Church in Blue Point. Father Roo- ney officiated at the ceremony in the presence of 125 guests. The bride, who was given in marriage by her stepfather , wore a floor-length gown of silk organ- za with a fitted bodice and scallop- ed neckline app li qued with seed pearls , and with chapel sleeves. Her fingertip scalloped veil was fastened to a double crown , trim- med with mother-of-pearl sequins. She carried white mums and white roses. The maid-of-honor , Miss Marie Nasto of Blue Point , wore a two- toned green floor-length taffeta gown with a matching crow n trinjjried with rhinestones and cry- ,staW: _Ier light green accessories Blended with the yellow tea roses and yellow mums she carried. Miss Carol McGuire and Miss Marylin Steininger , both of Pat- c-hogue , bridesmaids , wore two- toned green floor-length gowns and matching crowns like the niaid- of-honor ' s , but their accessories were of dark green , blending with their yellow tea roses , yellow mums and matching streamers. Best man for the bridegroom was Ralph Ardolino of Patchogue. The ushers were Bern Finnerty of Ho ' .brook and Charles Miller of West Islip. A reception and buffe f dinner was held at Nancy ' s Restaurant , Patchogue , with music furnished by Art Swanson and his band , from Hicksville. Mr. and Mrs Derby motored to Ohio for an eighteen months ' stay while Mr. Derb y is stationed at Clinton County Air Force Base. The bride , graduated from Pat- chogue Senior High School , Class of 1959 , was emp loyed in the North Ocean Avenue business office of the New York Telep hone Company, Patchogue. The bridegroom graduate d from Seton Hall High School , Patch- ogue , in 1959 and entered the Air Force March 28 , 1960. FERRANTE—HUDSON In Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R. C. Church October 8 at 4 p. m., Miss Elaine Joan Hudson , daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hud- son of Mt. Vernon Avenue , Patch- ogue , became the bride of Salva- tore Ferrante , son of Mr. and Mrs . Mario Ferrante of West Hol- lywood , Fla. Bouquets of white flowers and white ribbon bows were at both sides of the altar before which the Rev. Saverio C. Matte l performed the nuptial cere- mony. * The bride was given in marriage by her brother , George Hudson. Her gown was of ruffled net tulle with a pep lum and bodice of se- quin-scattered Chantilly lace. Her crown was a Princess Anne baby pearl tiara with a fingertip veil. She carried a prayerbook and two white orchids with streamers. Miss Anne Miranda of East Pat- chogue was the maid-of-honor. She wore a double-ruffled street-length dress of Hunter ' s green silk or- ganza and a rhinestone tiara with matching net veil. She carried a bouquet of shrimp colored chry- santhemums with green streamers . The bridesmaids. Miss Starr Mi- randa and Mrs. Joyce Ferrante , both of East Patchogue , and Mrs. Connie Ferrante of Patchogue , were dressed similar to the maid- of-honor , but their chrysanthemum bouquets were green with shrimp colored streamers. A miniature bride , dressed exactly like the bride herself , was the flower girl , Miss Chery l Lee Miranda. Charles Hudson of Patchogue was the bridegroom ' s best man. Ushers were John Ferrante and Josep h Hudson of Patchogue and Tom Ferrante of East Patchogue. A reception for 150 guests was held at (j p. m. in the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall , Medford. After a week' s honeymoon in Pocono Gardens , Pa.. Mr. and Mrs. Ferrante are making their home at 43 Second Street , Patchogue. The bride is a graduate of Pat- chogue Hi gh School. Mr. Ferrante is also a graduate of Patchogue High School and is emp loyed by Nassau-Suffolk Pave- ments , Inc , in Bay Shore.
