Mrs. Rictiard Puka , chairman of an auction to be held at 1 p. in., June 11 at the Brook House by Women ' s Auxiliai y for lirook- haven Memorial Hosp ital , has an- nounced that Tedd y Hlau , well- known auctioneer will serve in that capacity. Assisting Mrs. Puka on ihe pick-up committee are Mes- dames Leonard Andors , Thomas Thompson , Gerard hchletter and Harold Euler , any of whom can be cailed to pick up auctionable articles. By Satuiday afternoon , Beaver Dam Road was alive with traffic , which it turned out was to and from the Tiger Nursery property, where Bonnie Rogers of Massa- pequa , nursery broker , and some 10 helpers were organized as spe- cialists in their Held in clearing the property of stock not already removed through wholesalers. Once an onlooker had got accus- tomed to the fairly unnerving sight of cars stationed all day long at Mott lane and Edgar Avenue , it was possible to study the highly developed work , with all exits made through the center entrance with sales .sli ps stamped by one of Mr. Rogers ' assistants , who at the same time imputed of non- purchasers as to what they had been shopp ing for. The local resi- dent was soon able , even in Patch- ogue traffic , to spot cars , like laden ants , wending the slow way home bearing trees , shrubs and bushes. Mr. and Mrs. John Mitchell Evving returned Sunday from a 10-week stay in Florida where they divided their visit between Bradenton and Anna Maria. Mrs. LaVerne Conklin , head teacher at South Haven School , has requested that all parents of children starting kindergarten next Fall should attend the May meeting of the South Haven Par- ents Group at 8 p. m. Wednesday, at South Haven School. At that time , parents of next-year ' s new students will be introduced to the curriculum and requirements. An election of officers for the parents group will take place. Everyone is welcome. Mr. and Mrs. Willis A. Strick- land of Hay Road spent last week- end touring Connecticut and Rhode Island. Mrs. Charles Teale and her five children of Loudenville left for home last week after an Easter visit with Mrs. Tunic ' s brother- in-law and sister , Mr. and Mrs. Russell Ferrer. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Lnrcombc and children , Anna Mae , Martin , Barbara and Diane , of Woodland Road returned Easter Monday from Atlantic City , N. J., where they had spent the holiday week- end at the home of Mr. Larcom- be ' s parents , Mr. and Mrs . Ray- mond Larcombe. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. Christian Anderson were Mrs. Anderson ' s aunt , Mrs . Harry B. Wolfe and husband of Tyrone , Pa. A guest last week of Mr. and Mrs. Carl (iood/.eit of Bay Road was Mrs. Ann Scollay of Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. G. Russell Mur- dock of Sleulawuy had as a house- guest last week , Mrs. Murdock' s mother , Mrs . M. S. Tuthill of Renisenbuig. Mrs. Emma H. Reid entertained last Thursday night in honor of Dr. and Mrs. Albeit Stahman of Bell port. Jlouseguests this week of Mrs. He-id' s have been the Misses Lillian and Annabelle Vussar of Brookl yn. Mrs. Anthony Majestic , general chairman of fund-raising for Bell- port High School , hopes that many local residents will turn out for the fashion show and card party, starting at 8 p. in. Saturday at the high school. Local residents , Mes- dames Oreste Piccioni nnd A. J. Sauter , are in charge of the card party, and urge those who wish to play games such as scrabble to come and bring their own sets. Miss Ella R. Hawkins of Brook- lyn moved to her home on Heaver Dam Road April 20 . Her cousin , Mrs. Norman Russell of Hemp- stead , spent the weekend in Brook- hit veil. Dennis Puleston of Meadow Lane and daughters , Jennifer and Still y, ami Gail Tooker and John Iluhur , also of Brookhaven , re- turned Saturday night from Flor- ida where they spent the school vacation visiting Mrs. C. Oliver Wellington in Pompano. Pete r Puleston , who was in the Brook- haven Memorial Hospital through- out his vacation with a bad eye infection WHS discharged Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sherman and sons , Freddie , Corky and Matthew , spent the school holidav at their home at Davis Park. Mr. and Mrs. William Bereza and children , Barbara nnd Billy, and Mrs. Bereza ' s father, Frank Archacki of Epsom Course , cele- brated Mrs. Bereza ' s birthday Sunday at the home of her bro- ther , Ted Archacki , in Whitestone . Miss Barbara Boreza will comp lete her two year training at Katha- rine Gibhs School in New York City in May. Alvin Zivitz of South Country Road , fourth grade teacher at Kramer Street Elementary School , spent the school vacation in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Bars! of Ynphank Avenue and daughters , Carol , Yvette ami Jcanette , were present Sunday at the home of Mrs. Band ' s parents , Mr. and Mrs Arend Behrens of Hamilton Bays , to celebrate Mr. and Mrs. Beh- rens ' birthdays at a dinner at- tended by other family niembers. Dr. Eugene L. Church dined in this area Thursday and Friday nights , then left Sunday for Wash- ington , D. C , where he will attend meetings of tbo American Phy. sical Society before returning to Copenhagen where he is spending a year at the Institute for Theo- retical Physics. Dr. David E. Alburger and his older daughter , Mary Jo , left Sun- day to fly to Washington , where Dr. Alburger will attend meetings of the American Physical Society while staying at the Sheraton Hotel. Mary Jo will visit Dr. and Mrs. Carol O. Muehlhause and their children , Pamela and Greg, of Bethesday, Md., former Brook- haven residents. A Chinese auction was held April 18 at St. James parish house at a meeting of the Women ' s Aux- iliary for Brookhaven Memorial Hosp ital. Special guests were chairman , Airs. Sidney Fisher ' s granddaughte r, Ann Fisher , and Mrs. Josep h Bull , treasurer of the auxiliary council. Mrs. Richard Fuka acted as auctioneer and was assisted by Mesdames Frank Simp- son and Thomas Sheppard while Miss Fisher served as timekeeper. Because of the holiday, attendance was small. Raised by the auction was $14.21. Hostesses were Mes- dames Harold Euler , Fremont B. Abrams and Sidney Fisher. Sew- ing will be done at a meeting to be held May 16 , a business meet- ing held and plans made for the auction being held at the Brook House , June 11. At a service of Holy Communion held April 14 the following per- sons were received into member- ship in the Brookhaven-South Haven Presbyterian Church: Miss Carolyn Ruth Abrams of Brook- haven; Mr. and Mrs. John McGee of Bellport and Mr. and Mrs. Al- fred Melfi of Shirley. Horn in Bayport , he was a life resident of the area and is sur- vived by several nieces and nephews. Services were held yeste rday at C. W. Ruland and Sons , conducted by the Rev. John E. Southard of the First Baptist Church , Patch- ogue. Interment followed in Blue Point Cemetery. MRS. JOSEPHINE WELLS , 82 , of 15 Wiggins Avenue , Patchogue , died April 20 at the home of her daughter , Mrs. Mora Wicks, where she resided. Horn in Brooklyn , she was a Patchogue resident for the past 26 years. A former Riverhead resi- dent and the widow of the late Franklin Wells , she was a mem- ber of the Sound Avenue Con- gregational Churc h , Riverhead , and a member of the Women ' s Christian Temperance Union. Besides her daughter , she is sur- vived by two sons , Vernon and Frederick Wells of Riverhead , five grandchildre n and 11 great-grand- children. Services were held last Satur- day at C. W. Ruland Sons Funera l Homo , Patchogue , conducted by the Rev. Herbert K. Robinson of the Patchogue Methodist Church. Interment was in Northville Ceme- tery, MRS. LAURA M. OVERTON , 70, of 101 Oak Street , Patchogue , died April 20 afj c r an extended illness. Born in Riverhead , she was a Patchogue resident for many years and a member of the Patchogue Methodist Church. She is survived b y her husband , Havens B. Overton; three sons , Dallas of Carle Place; Roger of Patchogue and Harold of North Patchogue; two daughters , Mrs. Sarah Bransford and Mrs. Havina Hadmiin of Patchogue; 13 grand- childre n and one great-grandchild. JAMES EDWARD BUDD , 44 , of 17 Center Street , Patchogue , died yesterday at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital. Born in Patchogue and a life resident of the area , he was a driver salesman supervisor for the Continental Baking Company, Co- ram. He was a member of St Paul' s Episcopal Church and the Quarterback Club. He is survived by his wife , Mrs. Julie Budd; two sons , Robert and James , Jr., both of ratchoguc; two daughters , Ellen and Susan , both of Patchogue; two brothers , Ro- bert of Patchogue and Warren of Medford , and two sisters , Mrs. Audrey Riopcl and Mrs. Mary Bo- rclla , both of Patchogue.
