FIRE DEPARTM ENT NEWS The dance in celebration of the seventieth anniversary of the Blue Point Hook and Ladder Company to be held at the firehouse has been postponed from last Saturday night to this Saturday. Dancing will commence at !» p. in. to the strains of the music of the Chords- men. Tickets may he obtained from any Blue Point fireman or admis- sion is payable at the door. The Blue Point vamps were call- ed out to two brush ti res last week , on Tuesday and Wednesday. One was on Madison Street , near Davis Avenue and the other was on Park Street. A Committee meeting to make p lans for a spaghetti dinner to be given in A pril by the Blue Point Fire Department Ladies ' Auxiliary was lu ld mi March 1 at the home of Mrs. Ott,, Medeck , Jr., of KM Corey Avenue. Plans were dis- cussed and refreshments w e r e served after the meeting. PTA M EETING DISCUSSED The Blue Point Parent-Teacher Association Founder ' s day meeting was held at 8 p. m. February 22 in the school auditorium , with Mrs. Arthur Miller , president , presiding. The meeting was opened b y the Cub Scouts, of Webelos Den who led in the flag salute and recited the Cub Scout promise as a re- ipi i rement for their Lion badge. Those who participated were Paul Crawford , La w r e n e e Dousing, David Swenson , - Alan Weyhrauch , John Stahl , Terry Fedelem , Tim- othy Cufick , David Sanders and William Mauck. Mrs. Miller reported that at a previous board meeting it had been suggested that PTA meet- ings be discontinued because of very little interest. There were many suggestions on ways to get more interest into the meetings. March 2' .l a meeting will be held to introduce the nine special teach- ers , who will explain their duties in the school program. There will be at least three speakers from among the following: Charles Clough , physical education , John Anderson , music; Henry Brynan , instrumental music. Mrs. Anna Colden , nurse , Mrs. Henry Gulick , dental hygienist. Mrs. Patricia Multer , speech; Mrs. Carlotta Scott , remedial reading; Melvin Mart , psychologist, and Mrs. Ral p h Schmidt , cafteria. A ((iiestion and answer period will follow. At future meetings , a suggestion box or question and answer box will be avai.able so that any one who wishes to make a suggestion can do so without signing his or her name. Mrs. Joseph McCarthy was named as chairman of the nomi- nating committee. Princess Te Ata was intoduced by Mrs . Sheila Allen , a personal friend. She pres- ented a very colorful program on the customs and rituals of the Chickasaw Indians. Refreshments were served after the program by the class mothers from the third and fourth grades. BAPTIST CHURCH The Couples Club of the Baptist Church met on February 20' at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ben- jamin Uutkowski of Fairview Ave- nue , Bayport. There was a devo- tional and lesson period , followed by election of officers. The new ollicers are Henry Morris , presi- dent , and Mrs. Henry Morris , see- retary-teasurer. After the meeting, a social time was enjoyed and refreshments were served. A business meet- ing and devotional service was i led b y Mrs. DeVerne Swezey, presi- dent. Then members continued work on the serapbooks which they are making for missionaries.
