RECENT OBITUARIES MRS. LAVINIA WILDMAN , 0.1 , died at her home on Middle Coun- try road , Lake Grove , January '!. She was the wife of the late John Wildman , and the sister of the late George Moen. Mrs . Wildman . who was known to her many friends here as \Aunt Viney, \ was born near where she had lived when she died. Her father was Patrick Moen who came from Ireland and her mother was the former Miss Susan Reynolds of Canada. Mrs. Wildman was married about 0a years ago , and spent the first part of her married life in East Orange , N. ,J. They had no children. She returned to Lake Grove about 1010 and has made her home then' ever since . She was a member of the First Con- gregational church of New Village since a young girl and was an honorary member of the Center- erch Fire department Ladies ' aux- iliary. Mrs. Wildman leaves no survi- vors. Funera l services were held a * 2 p. in. Saturday at. her former residence with the Rev. Kenneth Olscn , pastor of the First Con- gregational Church of New Vil- lage and the Rev. Curtis Godshall. pasto r of the Centereach Mennonite church officiating. Interment fol- lowed in the Nov Village Con- gregational churc h cemetery. DAVID T. M <>o R E , HI , of Ridge , M.I.. died Monday at. the Si.nns Nursing Home in Millers ville, Md. He was born in Brook- haven and was a former resident there. He is survived by three daugh- ters , Mrs. John T. Courtney of Point Lookout , Md.; M rs. Frank E. Matteson of Danville , N. J.; and Mrs . Gelfer , JjK, associate professo r of violin at. Denison Conservatory of Music , Newark, O., and a former Patchogue resi- dent , died December 27 in Newark hospital . The Advance learned this week. Willi his parents , the late Adolf and Mrs . Dora Gelfer , who lives al. lb Elect ric street , I' atchogue , Mr. Gelfe r came to New York with the touring Russian Sym- phony at the turn of the century. Settling in Patchogue , Mr. Golfer ' s father taught, viola and violin. Samuel Gelfe r studied with the famed concert violinists , Joseph Fuchs , Leopold Auer and Henry Schraderjek. He studied at the Juilliard School of Music and was a mem her of the Long Island quartet . Later , while touring with the Victor Herbert company, he re- mained in Newark to begin teach- ing violin. He joined the faculty of Denison university in !02, r > and was former supervisor of music at Newark public schools. Mr. Gelfer founded Newark' s symphony. A member of national music as- sociations , including the Music Educators association, Musicians union , American Symphony league and Musicians Protective associa- tion , he was also active in Newark community activities , including the Masons , Elks , Kiwanis and B' nai B' rifh. In April of P. l . -iS . he attended the Pan American Music confer- ence , as one of a limited number invited. lie is survived b y his wife . Inez; two sons , Dav id ami Karl; his mother; two brothers , Georgtf of Blue Point and Maurice of East Islip, ami a sister , Mrs . Robert Fields of lielford , N. J. Services were held at Denison university, where interment took place. Richard II.
