New flooring and new dis- play cases have been installed. On Saturday, Ernest Dahlrrtan , the proprietor , and his wife , Mrs. Helen Dahlman , will give a choice of one pqund of salad with each purchase ' of more than $1. The Dahlmans have been in business in Patchogue for nine years. * * * A MINIATURE shopping cen- ' ter is p lanned on property at South Ocean avenue and 'ferry street by the Millan Realty com- pany of Rockville Centre . According to Ben Feldman , co- owner along with Perry Kemp of the vacant stores and surround- ing lots at the corner , five stores , ' facing Ocean avenue and one fac- ing Terry street will be ready for occupancy by June 1 after remod- eling is completed. Twelve offices above the stores are also being given a face-lifting. Local labor is handling the re- modeling. The stores will have a white colonial front and black shutters. The excellent municipal parking facilities near the property were cited as a reason for the develop- ment , according to Mr. Feldman , who said that six more stores on an adjoining lot on Ocean avenue and five more on adjoining Terry street land are also being plan- ned . i THE STRAUSS STORE on East Main street will be one of the occupants of a new East Main street shopping center op- posite the Safeway store which is being handled by E. Fire Island Inlet Condition Good , Committee Hears Represen tative Stuyvesant Wainwright was the featured speaker at a Monday luncheon meeting of the Fire Island Inlet committee at the Patchogue ho- tel. Speaking to some 25 committee members , the congressman spoke on \ present arrangements for the inlet. The inlet , Mr. Wainwright said , was one of the projects that the Board of Army Engi- neers had accepted as part of its own program , which would mean that the inlet would be maintain- ed each year when dredging was necessary. No additional inlet will be considered , it was brought out in general discussion , as long as the present one is in a satisfac- tory condition. John II. Muller , executive vice president of Ira S. Bushey & Sons of Brooklyn , made the state- ment that the present condition of the inlet is very satisfactory and that no trouble has been re- ported by mariners going in or out. Joseph Glancy of the Blue Points company declared that Great South bay has never been in finer condition for oysters and clams , and that hopes are high for a rejuvenated shellfish indus- try in this area. Also at the meeting, over which Leslie Weiss , president of the Patchogue Electric Light com- pany, presided . Rep. Wainwright and Mr . Weiss were presented with resolutions of appreciation from the committee. The con- gressman ' s cited his \diligence and effort\ in aiding the com- mittee and in his successful fight for Federal aid and maintenance of the inlet , and Mr. Weiss ' was for his efforts as chairman of the committee.
