Mr. and Mrs. Herman J . Hall and son John will entertain Hugh Hall for dinner Christmas Day. A flock of around 50 mourning doves have been at a local feeder recently with around 20 coming quite often to get some cracked corn. The only thing at the bird feeder of your correspondent, this morning, was a great big tiger cat sitting about a foot away on a limb. Needless to say, not a bird was in sight. But as soon as he left, back came the downy wood peckers and tree sparrow s. The theme of Rev. Rudolph Grossm an’s sermon in the M rst Congregational Church on Sun day, Dec. 27, will be “ The P eace of God” . The United Methodist Church will observe Student Recognition Day at the morning worship s e r v ice on Sunday, Dec. 27. Many youth of the church will be con ducting the service. NE’.V FIRE TRUCK DELIVERED TO VILLAGE A new fire truck costing $ 3 4 ,- 000 was recently delivered to the Village of Savannah. The truck was made ln Elm ira, N.Y'. by the Am erican-La France Co. and will replace the truck bought in 1949. It is reported it will be in opera tion around the first of the year, after the Savannah Volunteer Fire Department has had time to train their men in the operation of the new truck. The Town of Savannah pays the village $3,200 a year for fire protection. After the first of the year, the Village of Savannah will no longer furnish protection to May’s Point ln Seneca County. They are now building a building at May’s Point to house a fire truck and will be protected by Magee, in Seneca County. M r. and Mrs. Gary Hartman and family, who have been living in Clyde, moved Saturday into their recently purchased home on Seneca Street, form erly owned by the late Michael Hearn. M rs. Hearn now lives at the Rogers Home. M rs. 1 artman is the for mer Doris O’Connor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold O’ Connor of Spring Lake Road. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Heit and son, Harold, Mr. and M rs. Ed ward Heit are spending Christ mas In Adrian, Mich., with Mr. and M rs. Robert Heit and sons, Robbie and Chuck. They will be joined by Mrs. Richard Heit, whose husband, 1st Lt. Heit is serving in Vietnam, of V in e Grove, Ken. L t. Heit writes home that he is awed and most pleased by the Christm as cards he has received from so many people he does not know. M rs. Erma Jean Fratangelo celebrated h e r birthday last Tuesday and with her sister, M rs. Joseph Molisani had lun cheon in Auburn. In the even ing m e m b e r s of her family gathered for iee c ream and birth day cake at the home of Mr. and M rs. Harold O’ Connor, her parents. SNOW, SNO .V, e verywhere you look. Dame Nature sent an abun dance of the white, fluffy stuff on Savannah an d surrounding country side, beginning around 5 p.m. W'ednesday. We all awoke on Thursday with every drive way full. School was closed and many were unable to get to work on time and some didn’t go at all. School re-opened on Friday and things were back almost to normal. The morning paper wasn’t de livered until evening at some homes and the ru r a l mailcar- rie r s didn’ t report back to the Post Office until late in the afternoon. All rural roads w e re reported open, in spite of break down in three of the town trucks. The remaining two trucks, just kept plowing away. Every tractor, or pick-up with a snow blade, w a s kept busy cleaning out drivew a y s. The only good thing about the storm which came out of the north east was the fact that it was warm , thaw ing most of the day, and the wind didn’t blow. Christm as Day guests at the home of Supervisor and Mrs. Donald Colvin will be, Mr. and M rs. Marvin Decker and family of Red Creek, M r. and Mrs. Frank Muller of Liverpool, Mrs. Vera Cooper of Albany, Miss Joyce Cooper of New Paitz and M rs. Floyd Townsend. Mr. and M rs. Donald Parks will entertain at dinner Christ mas eve. Their guests will be M rs. Clara Cartner and Miss Lucille Du Bois of Lyons, Mr. and M rs. Gary Grant and daugh ters, Susan and Amy of Clyde and Mr. and M rs. Gary Parks of Seneca Falls. The M isses Paula and Renda Furman entertained last Satur day evening at a snowmobile party. About 45 guests with 10 snowmobiles had a glorious time. Refreshments were served. M rs. Anne I uettner came home from Lyons Community Hospital on Friday where she has been since Wednesday. Mr. and M rs. Richard Wescott and son, John of Rock Hill, N.Y. spent the weekend with his pa rents, Mr. and M rs. Arthur Wescott. Richard W'escott was best man Saturday evening for David Sawyer of Mexico, N.Y. Mr. and M rs. Richard Wes- cott will entertain at a family dinner on Christm as Day at their home on Rock Hill. Their guests will be, his parents and brother Kenneth of Savannah; M rs. W’es- cott’ s mother, M rs. Edith Xagata of Ithaca, and Mr. Wescott’ s s i s ter, M rs. Patrick Shannon and M r. Shannon of Alexandria, V ir ginia. M iss Helen Wright will arrive Wednesday evening to spend until January 4 with her parents, Mr. and M rs. G. Fred Wright. They will be joined for Christm as din ner by George Welcher o f Newark and M r. and Mrs. Robert Wright and daughters of Savannah.
