Featured was an oper etta, “ Conversation at the Man ger” written snd directed by Mrs. Robert Helmer. It let the view e r s listen in on conversation as il might have sounded had a group of children visited the manger. Reader was Aaron Petrosino. So lo ists were Diane and Elaine Hixon, Dale Bowman, Christine K e lly, Stacy and Karen Wolfe, Brenda Waterman. The chorus consisted of R h o n d a Decker, W a n d a Andrus, Diane Crane, Cynthia Waterman, Kim Wolfe and Francine Utter. Members of the Intermediate, Junior and Senior classes taught by Mrs. Otis Wolfe, M rs. Henry Rising and M r s . Carlton G a y , who weren’t participating in the op eretta helped with decoratlngand preparing for the program. Also on the program were recitations by M rs. Ward Harrington’s be ginner class, D o ris, Patricia and H a rry Smith, Bruce and Dar lene Decker, Eddie and Jimmie Lapp. The United Methodist Church had their program on Sunday eve ning, December 20, beginning at 7:30. M rs. Douglas Youngman directed a play which she wrote entitled, \A M erry Christmas.” The story was about a widow and her family who shared th e i r Christm a s. The pageant unfolded before them as the mother read the Christm as story. Members of the family included: Mother, H e l e n VanDuyne, Martha the Maid, Cindy Ibisevic; Jim , Ray mond Conrow; Judy, Ginger Boos; Bob, Donald l>oos; Jean, Shirley Bellinger. Pageant parts were taken mainly by members of the United Youth Group. Head Angel Robin Wiggins, was surrounded by a large group of smaller An gels, made up of boys and girls from pre-school through second grade; mice, third and fourth grade boys; carollers, grades three through six. Interspersed throughout the play were carols sung by the senior choir. Fol lowing the program the WSCS s e r v e d refreshments in the church basement. Christm as S u n d a y morning service at the United .Methodist Church the pastor, Rev. Ralph L. Williamson, had as his topic, “ Go Tell It On The Mountain.” The senior choir under the dir ection of M rs. Douglas Youngman sang, “ Let Earth Receive Her King” and the children's choir directed by M rs. K. Wallace Owen, sang, \D o You Hear What I Hear?” Mr. and M rs. Samuel Sorensen lit the final Advent candle. Christm as S u n d a y at the Church of Christ (Disciples) in cluded the lighting of the fourth Advent candle. Jeffrey Wolfe was the candle lighter each week and readers were Stacey and Karen W o lfe , Brenda Waterman and Elaine Hixon. The senior choir sang, “ Joy To the World” and the youth choir, directed by Mrs. Robert Helmer sang, “ Mary’s Lullaby.” Mr. and M rs. Carlton Gay and Allen attended the Clark family Christm as party a week ago Sun day at the W esterlea Community Barn, Camillus with 48 present. SP/4 Terry Stafford is enjoy ing a 30-day leave from Scho field B a rracks, Oahu, Hawaii with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Stafford and with his sisters and their fam ilies. Despite bad weather, 36 mem bers of the Firem en and A uxiliary attended the Christm as party r e cently at The Anchorage. Florence Alford was ta ken to the Auburn Memorial Hos pital Friday night by the South Butler ambulance. C a r l Isbell was scheduled to h a v e a tonsillectomy M o n d a y morning at Newark-Wayne Com munity Hospital. M r. and M rs. Donald Weaver and daughter, Virginia, were Sat urday supper guests of M r. and M rs. Donald Reed and family. V irgin ia remained over Sunday to attend the 4H party and the school Christmas program. O ver 30 members of the Sham ro c k s and Prize Winners 4H Clubs went carolling in South Butler Saturday evening. Mark Hill led the singing. Then they piled in several of the leader's c a r s and headed to the boy’s new club house on Taylor Road. When they arrived they found lt gaily decorated with a 15 foot Christ m as tree, evergreen boughs and paper chains. After a time of not knowing whether there would be a party o r not because they didn’t have any means of heat, a stove was loaned to them. The Isbell and Markowski families moved it in and decorated the room and the Clubs had a fine party. Re freshm e n ts of fa n c y cookies, candy and “ hot Russian tea” w e re served by the leaders. Donald Center ls visiting his aunt, M rs. Luella Cuddebackdur ing part of his holiday vacation from Idaho State University, Fo- catello , Idaho. He will be re m em bered as having lived with his aunt during his senior year of high school in Wolcott. Recently he has become interested in the geneology of the Center family and would appreciate any infor mation anyone could give him concerning his ancestry.
