The capiur of this gang of thieves shows where til oil went to- On Friday evening of last week two men were captured while 111 the act ol stealing a quantity of pork from tli cellar of JI. J. Christ ¡an, near thib place. They were brought to this place and turned over to officer Wells, who lodged them in the lock-up until morn ing,,when thoy were taken before Jus tice Aldrich for examination, which they waived, and wero committed to jail foi trial lieforo the Grand Jury. They gave their names as Win. Dean and W 111 . Keller. Wm. Dean was soon recogni zed as “ Bill Itieh,” a notorious rough and ex-convict. Ilich presented a rath er sorry appearance, as during tlie .strug gle of capturing him he resisted, and received a blow which closed one eve and gave him the appearance o f a third class prize-fighter. These parties had been hanging around tlie village foi some time, and officer Seymour nml Hayden had been watching their move ments closely, as they- suspected thej were concerned1 in stealing the Pepper mint Oil from the oil. depot of 1L O. Hotchkiss, at Lyons, about three week» ago. On receipt of Hostage the postmaster will give the receipt from u hook of blank forms, •stamps will then be affixed to the stub if the receipt and cancelled by perfora ting them with a punch and the blank ipace’s stub be filled to correspond with the receipt. The stub books arc to be kept perma nently in the office to be ready to be produced whenever demanded by the department. The postmaster -»ill render promptly at the end of each quarter, in blank forms furnished for the purpose, a state ment of postage collected from ench p iblisher or nows agent during the piarter.
