An entertaining Sunday School Con vention was held at Silver Springs last Saturday, the WothersGeld and-Gaines ville Schools uniting. There has been considerable sickness \in Rock'Glen lately. It is reported that the new highway bridge, one mile above Portagoville, that was constructed by Wyoming and Livingston counties, was so damaged iby ice at the recent thaw that it i s im passible and will have -to be 'recon structed. Silver Springs will vote on the ques tion of Incorporation next Tuesday, with chances against carrying the measure, as there is considerable op position. There is no question about the benefits to b e derived from becom ing incorporated, as no real advance ment can be made in any village with out incorporation, by which ordinances •can be made and enforced. Silver Springs ^should incorporate by all means. Tke young men of North Java pre seated the thrilling and entertaining drama \Among the Breakers,\ at Straub's Hall, Sheldon, Tuesday even ing. The young men did themselves proud and appeared perfectly at home in' the wings. The entertainment was a great success and well attended, the actors being loudly applauded upon every turn. The acts were interspersed with clever magical acts by Dr. Lace jr. The entertainment was given for the benefit of St. Celia's Church and the young men contributed their services —East Aurora Citizen. WAKAW. Perry hay buyers ore offering S7 25 per ton. The ice a t Silver Lake is of very fine quality this year. Drilling is in progress for the well on the creamery lot. The entire expense of running the villagolast year was $3,732.5(5. Deputy factory inspector Mulkin, of riendship, was in town last week. Owing to the building of the Cream ery our farmers are stocking up with cows. Good pickerel are being caught at the Lake. One weighing 12 pounds was a recent catch. The contract for tho machinery for ,tho creamery has been lot to the Drako Hardware Co., of Friendship. The Misses. E. & L. Bullcn. of Akron are about to move to Perry. They have kept a fancy goods store. Tho Silver Lake Railway has an e x tra engine on account of tho largo amount of freight and ice being hand led. There are indications that something will bo done with those who have here tofore violated the license laws with impunity. We hope so. B. F. Hurty hag accepted a situation as bookkeeper at the sanitarium. S. D. Purdy has been elected presi dent of the Battvia Electric Light'Com- pany. Last week Wm. W. At their hist, meeting tho Good Tem plars elec.ed Rev. M. N. Shoemakor, Edwin Nichols and Mrs. E. J. Certificates of school grading earned in the examination February 7th and 8th were Dora Eddy, fourth grade Harry Stone, Frank Windsor, Georgia Houghton, Grace Jones, Retta Gilbert, Daisy Porr, fifth grade, and Rose Nelson, eighth grade. •On Tuesday evening Wm Morgan died at his home two miles north of Bliss. His illness, a severe case of typhoid fever, was of two weeks dura tion. He was an industrious yonng man who will bo missed from the community, and sincere sympathy due his friends. The revival meetings which were held here for threo weeks have resulted in the conversion of neaaly one hundred, and have accomplished great good, much of which will only be apparent In the future. The Cuba Post was edited by the wo men of the town last week and was bright and sparkling, and a credit to the ability of the women. Although he is the head of the police department, the Hon. Mayor Jewett of Buffalo says the Sunday laws in regard to opening saloons are not respected and obeyed. He has been taken severe ly to task by some of the daily papers and some of the clergymen of the city, who ask the pertinent question, why he does not enforce the laws? For The announcement that the Stato Railroad Commissioners has authorized tho building of tho Batavia & Northern Railroad from Batavia to Oak Orchard on Lake Ontario and also stating that tho company formed for the purpo&o is financially ablo to curry out tho project, is of great interest to tho people along the line of the Buffalo Attica & Arcade Railroad Tho Batavia & Northern road( is being built with tho idea of forming a direct routo for the transpor tation of coal from tho initios to Lake Ontario, to connect with a lino of steamers for Port Hope, Canada, which lies \directly opposite, and wich is a great coal and manufacturing center on tho Grand Trunk Railroad. Tho Buffalo, Attica & Arcudo railroad will form a connecting link in this route, with\ one terminus at Arcade connect ing with the W. N. Y. & P. railroad and ono at Freedom connecting with tho B., R & P. railroad both of which roads go direct to somo ot tho best so.t coal mines in Pennsylvania. It will thou ho seon that our littlo road from Arcado to Attica is destined to jump iuto prominence as a through lino and at tho sumo timo givo the towns along its route better connections with tho rest of tho world. This will ho of great benefit to Arcade, and wo oxpect busi ness \to boom tho coming summer. By a vote ono thousand dol'ars more was appropriated for the program making a total of $3,500, moro than twice as much as paid last year, and a thousand dollars moro than ever paid beforo. Among tho speakers already secured aro some of the greatost names of tho country. The musical attractions are without precedent, among them being a great musical festival, with a trained chorus of many voices, assisted by cole- brated soloists, which will produce tho Oratorio of the Mossiah and othor se lections. The International Christian Workors will havo a week commencing July 10, and tho Epworth School of Methods, under tho charge of Dr. Berry, will also havo na week, commencing July 23rd. Among tho noted lecturers engaged are Row T. Do Witt Talinago, Dr. F. E. Clurk, Prcsidont of tho Y. P. S. C. E.; Dr. Joseph Berry, editor of tho Ep worth Herald, Dr. Edwin A. Scholl, secrotary of tho Epworth League, |Dr. S. A. Steol, secrotary of tho Epworfh League of the M. E. Church, south. A series of brilliant storcoptican lec tures will Jbo glvon by several of the best artists in that lino. Two of the best concert companies will give sever al concerts. These will probably bo the Schubert Quartotto and The Lotus Glee Club. An arrangement has been made by which one or moro preachers of nation al reputution will speak on Sunday, thus making it an attractive day for those who wish to stay over the Sab bath. Besides the intellectual and musical entertainments, there will be matched games of base ball on tho new grounds adjoining, purchased |and fitted up for this purpose, a field day for bicycle riders and other out-of-door health giv ing sports.
