On Friday morning, the day after the -members had filled themselves with the good things provided by Mine Host And Hostess, T. L. Stone and wif e at Varysburg, they assembled at their rooms at 9 o'clock , all members being •present. The journal of Wednesday .and Thursday was read by the clerk .and approved. Mr. Mason moved that •tho sum of $250 be levied upon the to\-n of Java fo r the maintenance and re pairs of roads and bridges in that town for the ensuing year, and the motion -was unanimously carried. Mr. Mason \ .again moved that, the sum of $218.35 bo levied upon various road districts in the town of Java fo r tho purpose of paying fo r road machines fo r that town. This resolution was also unanimously carried. Upon motion of Mr. Wing the thanks of the Board fo r transportiou t o tho County Poor Farm, were unanimously tendered to tho General Superintend ent of the Buffalo, Attica and Arcade Railway. G . Tho Journal of Pri- •day was read and approved. Mr. Wing was called to the Chair, And upon motion of Mr. Humphrey, the salary of tho District Attorney was fixed at $80U per annum. Upon motion of Mr. Mason tho Board •adjourned until Monday morning at ll o'clock. MONDAY MORNING. ' The Board assembled at the pro scribed time, but owing to matters of importance to tho majority of members •of the Board, an adjournment was taken until Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock. Nearly the entire day was spent in figuring on the appeal matter. TUESDAY MORNING. \ - The Board assembleu at 0 o'clock, • with all members present, and the Journal of Monday was read and ap proved. Mr. Bristol, moved that the 4 Board take a recess until 4 o'clock p.m. which was ordered. Assessors, be levied upon the County of Wyoming, exclusive of the towns of Covington. Middlebury and Perry. Mr. McNair moved as an amendment that the matter be laid upon the table. Tho amendment was adopted and the origi nal motion as amended was carried A resolution was passed by which a standing rule was adopted that no bills will hereafter be audited without uuan- imous consent, unless presented o n or before\ Thursday of the first week of the Board's annual meeting. The re solutions also recommended that the practice of boards of town audits i n sending claims against theii several towns, t o the Board o t Supervisors b o discontinued. The committee o n co.un- ty buildings reported in favor of an ap propriation of $200 to make improve ments i n the poor farm buildings and that an additional furnace be put in the court house. This committeo was in structed t o place an insurance upon the county buildings at Warsaw. The special committee appointed t o Consider tho petition of Coroner Sharp reported i n favo r of allowing him $150, which wa s adopted Resolutions i n memory of the late Kdgar A. Day were. The -people of Bliss and in fact the entire county were more than surprised when they learned that Norman R. Howes had absconded, leaving many creditors to mourn -his departure On Monday afternoon, November 12, he started out on what was supposed to be his regular monthly cigar trip, stop ping at Warsaw, where he collected several bills and from that place going to Hornellsvillo whero'he also collected money due him fo r cigars furnished various dealers ther».. From this place trace of him was dost, and uo one has heard anything of him since that time. It i s possible that ho may have mot with foul play, as he took a consider able sum of money with him. Yet this theory i s hard y t o b e credited. Pliconica vending Tho Board adjourned shie neoday afternoon. die Wed- ITALIAN HUEUEREKSi Arrested in Italy and May Be Keturn- \*\ed to l-irmg-ston County Sheriff McNeill, o f Livingston coun ty, has received through the Italia n Counsul i n New York, a request from the Cour t of Italy for further testimony as to the guil t of Michael Delzappo and Antonio d i Rinaldi, who are accused of the murder and robbing of Pasquale Purchio at Greigsville, November 11, 1S93. Purchio wa s an Italian labore r on the Delaware, Lacjaawanna & West ern Railroad. The man was murdered near tho tracks and the weapon which was used an d the hats of the guilty ones were found close by . The two men were found next morning bloody and hatless b y farmers i n a barn at Nunda. Officers were notified but the men escape d and sailed t o Italy. Ex tradition papers were prepared an d sent to the Italian Government. The Italian Government moved slowly but about a month ago it was learned that the men had been arrested. Now that the Court of Italy has taken hold of the matter i t i s certain that the men will be returned to this country for trial . Death o f A. K. Walker. Sale o f an Old Church In pursuance of the actio n taken by the Genesee and Wyoming Presbytery, tho old Presbyterian Church, situated near the village o f Alexander, was re cently sold at 'auction for only $155.«j Edward Tolles, of Attica, wa s the pur chaser. In addition t o tho lot and building, which i s of brick and stone, there was the pulpit and other furniture including a pipe organ , which alone cost originally nearly $1,000. More Schools Than Teachers. Out of a grand total of 173 candidates trying teachers' examinations since Januaryi 1st , this year i n District No. 1, only 8 9 were successful. Attica had 23 candidates, o f which only 1 1 passed; Warsaw sent 36, and only 16 secured certificates; Perry had 24 and but 10 got through; Sheldon had 32, with only 15 winners. The result* of the examin ations left many school districts short of teachers, much to the inconvenience and perplexity o f tbe district trustees, who were compelled to \chase every where for teachers,\ as one disgusted trustee said. Lackey, i n Hornellsville Tuesday after a lingering illness of about one year. She na s wearly 01)years old. Lockport i s t o have tho biggest to boggan slide this winter ever built i n New York State. Arthur L. Lerch and a half-dozen enterprising young men are at the head ot the undertaking, which will involve the expenditure of considerable money. Workmen have begun excavating for the cellar and foundation walls for the new jail building at Mayville.
