A silent drama has been enact ed in the atmosphere above our mountains during the past few days. A large mass of polar air built up in e3st central Canada and was about to proceed in a normal manner southeaslwerd: Then a low pressure storm tde- c-ided to stick around the Canad ian maritime provinces for a while, instead of going on into the North Atlantic. Not only did this \low” maintain its stand, but it sent out a low pressure trough aloft back toward the southeast. The forward movement of the -high” was thus blocked, and its center remained stationary over Ontario and Labrador for three days. However, cool air spread southward along the ground. Here in the northern Adiron dacks, We were under the influ ence of admixture of cool dry air from the “high” end damp air which was being drawn into the \low” from the northeast. — L a st night t h e \high’ began to move rapidly in our direction. As a result, clouds vanished and tem peratures dropped to the freezing level in this section. The ^indication is for clear dry weather this afternoon, tonight Make your w a n ts known; page 6 1 and Tomorrow.
