Village Board Appoints Mrs. Schilling phyiJis Schilling, the first wo- man to serve on the Altamont Village Board of Trustees, was appointed to that position at Tuesday night's Village Board meeting. It seems she was asked to replace iMrs, Paul Dean as treasurer of the board when the Deans were moving from Alta- mont- She agreed if someone could \show her toe ropes\ and so she ended »p for coffee and a doughnut wife the ©cans as the moving men carted out the furniture? Later her good friend Thelma Hems came on ike board as secretary complain- ing she knew nothing about being a secretary or taking notes. They swapped Jobs! She later served as president deciding that the library would be her public service emphasis. The luncheon was attended by a number of villagers who have worked with Jessie on various library activities plus Mayor Jim Caruso and his wife Rosemary, former Mayor Lloyd Brjggs and his wife Virginia, awd former Mayor Ned Sanford <my father), Pat Spohr, president of the library hoard presented a framed citation naming \Jessie Westfall Fleck a lifetime member\ of the association and expressing the board's appreciation of her long and faithful service, Jessie was accompanied at this luncheon by her husband Galen Fleck, The luncheon gaye them an opportunity to share past expert enees with many of her friends and ' associates, it was a yery nice party for a yery nice lady?
