While the expression was earnest and reflected the actual hopes of 'all present it sug@ested it- self as in bad form ito his excellency and its publication was caréfully prevented. After the Jncksonians had passed away, a body of 300 men led by Mr. E. J, Meegan, filed quietly Into the house and surprised the governor. The subsequent annougcement of their call has created consterpatioGn in this city. Their in- fluence which bas been silent for some years, operated powerfully in saving this county to the Democrats in the late election, and was used mainly on gcdount of intense personal {feeling for Governor Hill.
