NEw York, April 21.-There is bound to be & revolution in railroading between this city and importaut western cities, which will be inaugurated by the Erie managers. Qn the Ist day of May the company will assume full control of the N. Y., P. and O. road. That day has been sot for the estab- lishment of a lightning train between this city and Cincinnati. Steps are now being taken to put the plans into operation en. when the time comes everything will be in '&mP'° and complete readiness for the groat | enterprise which the Eris has THE VEANS AND ABILITY .to successfully and popularly carry ont. The time to be consumed in the run (be- tween this city and Cincinnati) will b« twenty-six and one-half hours. DetRrorr, Mich., April 21.-A caso of mysterious and fatal shooting has just oc- curred at (Grand Rapids. * Last Friday two mon registered at a hotol as \'James Clanoy, Buffalo,\ and *'*Nate Addison, Nowhere.\ For several days thoy drank boavily. Theo survivor, Herman Clinton, who registered as Clancy, gives this account of the tragedy: They had spent all their morley, and he do- tormined to' deatroy himsolf. He took a revolvor, wont to his room, cocked the weapon, and iay down on tho bed. Ho loft his wife and son on a farm four or five miles in the country. This ron is twenty-one years old. They are in comfortable circumstances, Clinton some ten years ago began drinking to ex- cre-s, and since that time has been worthloss and a disgrace to himself and family. His brother, §. D. It was said that he had been attacked by malarial chills, yand that tho sorvices of four physicians wore ro quired to bring about a reaction. Several telegrams were received saying his condi- tion was serious, and the anxicty grow in- temo. Finally about 4 o'clock yesterday a private dispatch was received from Secre tary Chandler to the effect that the stories in regard to the president's serious illness wero false, and that his health was never bettor.
