It seems that Sarah Yandrow occupied a8mall place which two Indians, Abram and John Jacobs, claimed, and one morning recently the two brothers went to the house with an ax and crowbar to throw the woman out and take possession. Webster, who is a brother- in-law of the Yandrow woman, was in- side and'forbade the\m to enter, but they forced open the door and rushed in and attacked the inmates, one aiming a blow at Webster with an «x. Webster, who is a man of splendid physique aiad great courage, wrested the ax from his assailant, but was meanwhile attacked by the other brother, and all three went tumbling from the door into the yard. Here Abram Jacobsstruck Webster with a piece of \iron cutting his head severely* and stunning him, while John picked up a stone to finish him. They immedi- ately went to the rescue. They had a hard time to get her up, but finally they persuaded her to go with them. They took her into the nearest house, which was P. W. It seems that the timbers forming the roof of the vestibule were close together, and i u falling the ends resting upon tbe eastern wall slipped dowri the wall, and when the other ends struck the. flooring the eastern ends remained alittle above it. As h e saw tbe mass falling upon him, Cahoon bad instinctively crouched, and to such extent as-to bring him be- neath the timbers. The mass of- brick which had fallen an'instant later had ,not forced the timbers downward in the least, and tbe beams were so close to- gether that the bricke had remained on top of them, leaving the apace under- neath the timbers free and clear and safe, the only place in the lobby in that condition. f- *,&, FOUL-.NE8T BROKEN UP.
