Talk like this is very terrible, but pending such whole- Bale calamities, it will be well for each member of society to take care of bis or her health, and leave the rest to Providence. The end comes prematurely to all who neglect thepreseryation of that inestimable blessing.— Suffer liver disease-, dyspepsia, chronic' constipation or any other ailment to take its course unchecked, and it will assuredly shorten life. It cannot be said, that the mean3 of protecting the system against the predisposing causes of disease, are withheld. The constitutions and physique of the. least f obnst uiay be SO strengthened anfl fortified by 'a'course of Hostetter's Stomach Bitters as to render them all but invulnerable, not only to ths attacks of epidemic disor- ders, bnt also to the ordinary complaints which prevail in all countries and at\ all seasons. If the j im- mense importance of protective medication were uni- versaUy understood^his Incomparable vegetable anti- dote, which is already the most popular tonic l a the world, would everywhere be classed among the staples of life, and no family would dare be without-it The time may arrive when this will be the case, for eyery year adds hundreds of thousands to the list of those who use it. - (myl9d*w2w) THE PAIN KtlitER Is both an Internal and External Remedy. , THEPAIN KtLlHER i Should be used at the first manifestations.of Cold or Cough. [-, i Mr. Golfax waa with him for over, an hour ia the forenoon. The General having: read the full platform, expresses himself as'' even'.better pleased witli, it than with the synopsis furnished- \him yesterday; say ing that it seemed clear and sensible, and h'e had no doubt i f expressed the general opinion of the-Republican party. ••' • i Mr. Golfax spent a large part of the day, at llig rpora in't|ie Capitol where he was visited-by many ''friends.\ The only member of the Cabinet. who has called ou either of the new nominees is Mr.\. Stan ton who visited both.of both of them last evening and was with' Gen. Grant for a short time this morning. ; The impeachment investigation was. contin- ued, to-day. FpUr or five witnesses were in at- tendance. It should be understood that the managers are very reticent about their affiirs and the portions of evidence elicited that have,: been'made public arefurhished by'the witnesses themselves and dressed,up in the White House circle to make the case \as much as possible, against tlib managers. ' ' Thugjkis gi,ven out .that Acting Secretary Cooper of the'Treasury Department, swore that he had been approached by a 1 person named Iieggett, who jar(jduced.a letter of authoiity frpm Senator Pomeroy, stating that he would carry out any arrangement made in his interest with his brother-in-law. • , \ The Senator publishes a card saying that :he never wrote or authorized the letter and that the whole thing is an entire fabrication. The man Leggett was examined to-day \and testified that he never Teceived or delivered such a letter to Mr. Cooper and that as far as he knew Sena- tor Pomeroy never wrote or autuoHze&'it. j One of the witnesses examined was Perry Puller o£ Kansas^ but the nature of his testiffiOv ny is not known. * ' \ ' . The Times special says: Mr. Wade called |oil Gen. Grant and Mr. Colfax this, morning, and the interviews between, these gentlemen, 'were very friendly andcdr, diai. The Ohio Senator-says ihe ticket ia a good one^ and that he will give it fust* Tieafty support, and has no doufet that it ^ul'.' be.electei next fall. '' .. , This 1 seems to be the common.sentiment of all Begublicans. ; ' . • Tribune special.,say3 t : The ImpeSfehrnent Managers. uav& in their' investigation elicited a number of very impdrtaijt. facts relative^O tlie •amount of money subscribed^ and the.manner ; of its : disposal.. \-\ 1 . ' - I - It has been established beyond possibility-of adpubtthat a strong ahtwmpeach.in.ent rihg was formed and that they began their'intrigues on the first day of tie triali .' The indications, to-iiight, are that the vote on impeachment will be further postponed; J • The highest\ official authority states that Mr. Stevens Tvfi'l submit the \three new articles to the Managers, and if not accepted, lie wilitajke : ; them- before the House. . , '': \ • He is confident he can frame one or two articles certain toxonvicfr. The probabilities are that the. House will adopt his views. •'. . i \^ The develo'jSements thafchive \beerf- made in, the managers, investigations are of tlie utmost importance and lead to.confirm the suspicions that undue influence was brought to bear to de- feat conviction on the 11th article. . • „ \ DIED. : ' : In Canton,on ths ICthinst ,of consumption,EUNICE, wife of Col.
