How to Wash Funnel* In answer to a correspondent, we quote the followinfe s,\ i A Some washerwomen possess quite a knack in washing flannel* so as to prevent its railing. It is not the soap suds, nor rinsing watery that jthiekeh np flannel in washing, not the- nibbing' aril. Cloth is, failed by being 'pounced and jounced' in the stocks of the failing mill with soap •ads. The action of nibbing flannel on a washing board is jost the\ same as that ot the falling mill Flannel, therefore, should) always be washed in very strong 60«p sad* which will remove the dirt and greese, by squeezing, better than rubbing wilt in weak* 8<iaj>,snd8. ItshooW ateo»bei6pseS^at^lhe srta'p in 'warni vf&ter. anfl nevei~4n cola, a-, the fibres of the wool do not shrink op as much in warm water as in cold, after com- ing oat of the warm soap sods. Great care should b& taken to rinse the soap com- pletely on* of the jEJanriel. This advice will apply rib the wasnifig of'blajikiMsJthersanje as it does of flannel- - ' v HYDROPHOBIA.—Spirits of hartshorn is a certain remedy for the bite of a mad dog. The wound should he constantly bathed with it. and three or four doses, diluted, taken inwardly daring the day The harts- horn decomposes, chemically, the virus in- sinuated into the Wound, and immediatly alters and destroys its deleteriousness. The writer, who resided in Brazil for some time first tried it for the bite \of a rattle- snake, similar success. At the suggestion of the writer, an old pbysicion tried it in cases of hydrophobia, and always with suc- cess- BOILS—The skin of a Boiled egg is the most efficacious remedy that can be appli- ed to a bqil. Peel it carefully wet and ap- ply it. It will draw off the matter and re- lieve the eoarnessia a few hours. NEW GRAFTIHS WAX.—Take two oun- ces of common rosin, melt it slow over a fire, being careful not to heat it 10 much as to make it throw of f its spirit of turpen- tine. \When it becomes clear as syrap. add a little less than one onnce of alcohol. and mix well and pnt in a bottle at once and cork tight. Alcohol is to be added sufficient to make the mixture liquid, and keep it so, and when applied to trees it hardens at* once, and forms an airtight covering. REMEDY FOB HORSES CATCHING THE REINMJNDER THEIR TAILS—An inquirer is informed that an enlargement: or the cropper, in the extreme back part of the bow, has to my certain knowledge worked a complete cure of the common evils con- quent upon the catching of the line nnder a horse's tail when in harness. A crupper one and a quarter to oneanda half inches in diameter, buckled suitably taut,'will most commonly neutralize an attempt of the horse to bind or eonfiine the line.— Co Gent. SPEAWS.—It is an old saying, 'that a sprained ankle is worse than a broken leg-' We are' not friendly to either, and know half a dozen things that we should prefer. But the danger of a sprain may be judged by the following facts set forth by a surgeon of Paris: He says, that of 78 amputations of the leg or foot, 60 were caused by sprains. One most not, there- fore, treat with contempt a sprained ankle, bandaging, with strong pressure, is recom- mended. CttTTtKe GRAFTS.—Scions for grafting can becutat any time during the winter or spring, and if properly preserved, ar e in a better condition than when permitted to re main on the parent \tree until the bnds have begun to swell. If cut when the ground is frozen, they can be preserved in the celfer in sand slightly moistened occa- sional! ; or if the ground be not frozen they can be stuck a few inches into the soil and left there in perfect safety until need- ed. We have found it to be a good plan to stick the scions in the ground at the bot- tom of the tree from which they are taken, by which the name is safely retained. We have riever found eold- weatheK.following the cutting the scions and partially cower- ing them with earth, to be the least detri- mental to them. mm** Koom-'-ani tag Shop to' No*. 9+'''iW&^,r Pord ***> fo W- At*: 'ft Aaron* Brio* BuriutagvoprxJgMs '•O.Spraij Boointtttt msaotfflffir to$m*,m #?*%«»t « reoelvjjia town New toft and Boston Jlte Itffl etwaiesf/didfbest W^^i^^gMJ^J living froro Mew lore sna Boston jno iwfWJt. wesfsMbest ««^tte2LolS*wJ»lMoAO«bl net Furnlturo everJjenWaofflSre* In thUfmarket, em- bracing almost every artlclothit can b o named; among which are Mahogany, Black \Walunt atuVBose Wood Sofas, *•_; Wete-st-totew. .T •\' f.j'iJK'WiWaa-^t* - , •-•.• Ottomans and I«oag:e«, Covetedwjth J>taab, pani«fc iuta««r Clotht Extenilon^abW, 8pHngJedBo1tb^^ tag, easy and common ffltaJW, ofJUhemmr, fioio- wood and Walnut: juw ftOokCjSwSareaU* .
