Another Victim of the W liltechapel ] Wbat all London has expected for the past two weeks came Sunday—another murder similar to those committed in the vicinity of Whitechapel. This particular crime was committed near Gateshead and the body was found in the street Sun day morning. Five o f these unfortunate women have now paid the tribute o f life to this mys terious monster, for the crimes are all credited by police and populace to one bloodthirsty fiend, and the public is aroused to the highest pitch of horror and iudig nation. No clue has been discovered by the po lice, as far as known, which sheds the l ^ t light upon the mysteiious crimes From the way all of the bodies weie cut up it is apparent that the murders were done by some one skilled in surgery. In each case a particular portion o f the body has been removed, which to many per sons directs suspicion towards some of the numerous medical students who attend the big hospital which is located near the scene of the murders. Warner Miller addressed two large mass meetings in this county to-day, one at Sandy Creek, at which his audience was composed chiefly of farmers, and one in this city this evening where he faced an audience of 3,000 persons. As many more were unable to gain admittance to the hall where the distinguished visitor spoke. It was nine o’clock before Mr, Miller came upon the stage. He was received with loud applause. Assemblyman S. M- Coon presided. Mr. Miller opened his speech by thank ing the people of this, his native county, for the enthusiastic demonstration in his honor, and then began a strong protection argument, showing how the country had prospered and grown under the existing tariff laws and how these laws, as it is proposed to change them by the applica tion of the Mills bill would opemrate to the great injury of the country’s industries, and to the common people. On the question of the surplus he de clared that it could be reduced by other means than by reducing the tari:S which protects our home industries and our home markets, and said he believed the Demo cratic administration had allowed it to accumulate purposely in order to induce the people to consent to a reduction of our tariff revenues. He touched the pension question lightly and said the Republican party would never consent to a reduction of the tariff until it had settled with every soldier who wore the blue, and made it possible in the near future for aU of those left to exist without public charity. Mr. Miller concluded with a strong ap peal for support. State Senator Geo. B. Sloan, Assembly- man Coon, and ex-Speaker D, 0. Little john, also made speeches. WILLIAM WAKBEN DEAD.
