The Honesdalo Herald says that Fred erick Brunig of Cirley Brook ha*l the m isfortune to lose four head of cattle last week, under peculiar circumstances. A n em p loye of the tannery of which Mr. S m n ig is foreman, had a potato patch last year, upon which, he found it neces sary to use Paris green. A considcr.ihle quantity of the poison which he had pro cured not being needed, it w as tied up in a newspaper and concealed in an old shed adjoiniDg the house. L ist week the shed was tore dotvn, and Mr. Brunig’s cattle found some choice pickings among a lot of old vegetables which had been stowed in its corners. Chancing to pass that w a y Mr. Brunig fi u ud one of his cow s in the agonies of death. Near his barn he discovered two two year, old heifer.a, also very sick. There were given such attention as seemed to be required, but the n e r t morning both were d e a d ; w h ile tw o more of the same age were suffering. H e then hastened to H o n es- dale to secure the services of veterinary surgeon Prielfer, but on his return one of the tW5 was dead. Meanw'hile his son had been m aking investigation, and finally came upon the broken package of poison, and the m y s tery was solved.
