The Decicertuwa Indeoendeni says that the old dam at toe Sand Poml, lying on the moantaiP west of Colevlllp, is reported to be in a dangerous conditiou. If such ,is ’the case, and it giyes way, Goleville .-will undoubtedly suffer the consequences, aa the outlet runs through that place and a number of buildings stand close to it. If there comes a heavy rain on the great . body o f snow and ice which covers the ■ large surface of the pond, it is sure to fall. We sincerely hope that no such accident will occur, but if it does, Stephen Hanking will be the fl^st to suffer, as be lives within 20 feet of the brook at the foot of the falls. —Infants and children’s wear in large variety at G. The Hudson Republican says that Eunice Miranda Sparks, daughter of the late Oscar Fitzalau B=ckwitb, was at the cHuity clerk’s office a few days ago searchiug the records to find whether or not her father died possessed of any real estate in that county. The records show that once ho entered into a contract to buy some land in Austerlitz, putting up $50 as a bonus, butjthera is nothing to tell that he kept the agreement. Beck with made no will, and his dauehtef is so-ely puzzled to know what will become of the valuable gold mine he possessed by right of discovery. — “ Doctor,” said tne patient,' “ I be lieve there’s something wrong with my stomach.” “ Not a bit of it,” replied the doctor, promptly. “ God made your stomach, aud he knows how to make them.
