Winners in the recent Storytelling Contest at Sandy Creek Level III were front: Carrie Penoyer, district winner; Beth Keesey, district runner-up. Back: Christy Parker and Crystal Farley. Entrants had to win at the building level to compete for district honors. Outstanding Students Selected Level I storytellers were front: Jason Tessier, district winner Christy Foster, runner-up. Back: Ryan Robbins and Sara Switzer. Each winner will go on to compete at the county level at the Mexico Middle School, March 29. Judges for the event were: Midge Tulley. Nancy Fahnestock and Linda Dowleam. The 1988 edition of Who's Who Among Students In American Junior Col- leges will include the names of eighteen students from Jefferson Community Col- lege who have been selected as national outstanding campus leaders. A campus nominating committee and editors of the annual directory have in- cluded the names of these students based on their aca- demic achievement, service to the community, leader- ship in extra curricular activities, and potential for continued success. Students named this year from Jefferson Community College are: Catherine A. Burd, Watertown; Helen J. Currie, Carthage; Sandra L. Fowler, Lorraine: Sherry E. Gibbs, Sandy Creek; Lisa A. Hayes. Croghan; Sharon J. Johnson, Carthage; Tammy J. Keefer, Evans Mills; Michele R. Kielmeier, Gou- verneur; Dean M. Lalone, Adams; Krista Marie Lud- wig, Black River; Nancy Lane Moore, Henderson; Janet E. Myers, Calcium; Dawn R. Petroske, Watertown; Deb- orah H. Rogers, Clayton; Anita Katharina Ross, Ft. Drum; Sueann M. ScheU, Wa- tertown; Judith A Taylor, Or- well, and Katherine H. The- sier, Harrisville. They join an elite group of students selected from more than 1,400 institutions of higher learning in all 50 states, the District of Col- umbia, and several foreign nations. Outstanding students have been honored in the annual directory since it was first published in 1934. Students Plan To Clean Up The members of the Class of 1992 (eighth graders) are making plans to participate in Beautification Day, April 23. The eighth graders are responsible for the area on the north side of Port Street from Route 11 to the village limits end south of Jefferson Street to the Long Bridge. Anyone having any suggestions for clean-up in that area please contact Jan Monnat at 298-5103 or 298-5792. The eighth grade students are looking forward to working hard from 9 a.m. until noon, when they will join the other students in the park for a picnic lunch.
