Burr Sr., 53, of 6578 Manwaring Road, Pulaski who died Tuesday, September 22, 1987 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, were at 11 a.m. Friday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home. Burial was in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood. Calling hours were 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 7385 Park St. He was born at Lyons Falls, N.Y., January 14, 1934, the son of Albert and Harriet Wyman Burr, Sr. Mr. Burr resided most of his life in Pulaski. He married Bernita Davis October 29,1955. He was employed from 1956 to 1970 with General Electric Co. in Syracuse. Mr. Burr later owned and operated a dairy farm. Mr. Burr was a member of Fernwood United Methodist Church. He served in the Marine Corps, in Korea from 1952 to 1955. Surviving are his wife, Bernita; two sons, James Jr. and Jeffrey, both of Pulaski; his mother, Harriet Burr of Lowville; three brothers, Alfred of Catd, Robert of Mexico and Albert Jr. of Glenfield; four sisters, Mrs. Eugene (Violet) Monks of Lyons Falls, Mrs. Herbert (Ella) Tuttle of Glenfield, Mrs. James (Betty) Stott of Colonie and Mrs. Rex (Phyllis) McNitt of Lacona; two grandsons and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, George and Franklin Burr. His father died July «, 1985. Contributions may be made to Sandy Creek Dollars for Scholars or Northern Oswego Ambulance. Cecil L. Fox Services for Cecil L. Fox, 87, of 81-21 Harwood Drive, who died Wednesday at a Watertown nursing home, were at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Adams Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandy Creek. There were no calling hours. She was born January 24, 1900, the daughter of Monroe and Dora Chapel Daniels. A native of Hastings, Mrs. Fox also lived many years in Fulton before moving to Sandy Creek in 1979. She was graduate of Phoenix High School. Mrs. Fox was employed with American Woolen Mill and at Sealright Corp., both in Fulton. Her husband, George Sr., died in 1961. Surviving are a son, George W. Jr. of Sandy Creek; two grandsons Ronald Fox, New Haven and Jerry Fox, Lakeland, Florida; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Summerville Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. Harold A. LaVere, Sr. Services for Harold A. LaVere Sr., 73, of Smartville Road,, Lacona who died early Saturday, morning, September 19, 1987 at his home after a short illness.Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, Pulaski, the Rev. Virgil Hager officiating. Burial was in Pulaski Cemetery. Calling hours were 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home, 7385 Park St. Mr. LaVere attended Copenhagen district schools. He was employed by Carrier Corp, in Syracuse for 24 years, retiring in 1976. He previously was employed by B.F. Goodrich Tire Co. in Somerville, N.J., for nine years as a manager. Surviving *$re his wife, the former Beatrice Reed; his mother, Mary LaVere of Adams; three sons, Harold A. Jr. oVPulaski, David B. of Central, S.C, and Stephen M. of Boylston; one daughter, Suzanne Mills of Central, S.C; one brother, Lawrence of Adams; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Contributions may be made to the Jefferson County Hospice. Church Will Hold Bazaar The Sandy Creek United Methodist Women will hold their Fall Bazaar on Saturday, October 10. Doors to the Fellowship Hall on Harwood Drive in Sandy Creek will open at 10 a.m. Again this year the women will have the table of baked goods and the ever popular table of nearly-new items. Many of the women have been busily preparing unique \colonial\ craft projects of various kinds. A modest-priced luncheon will be served starting at noon. Please be sure to mark this date October 10 on your calendar and get a head start on that Christmas shopping! Claude A. (Buck) Woolson A New Tradition Claude A. (Buck) Woolson aged 82, Loomis Road, Pulaski, formerly of Richland died Thursday, September 24, 1987, in the Veteran's Administration Hospital, Syracuse. He was born August 23, 1905 in the town of Orwell, son of Allen and Nina Look Woolson. He attended the town of Orwell district schools and Sandy Creek High School. He was married to Edith Hall. He was a member of the US Coast Guard from 1929 to 1931. He was employed by the Pulaski School District for 30 years, retiring in 1965. For many years he owned and operated a sand and gravel business in Richland, retiring in 1978. He was a former member of the\ Ringgold Fire Department and the Richland Fire Department. Survivors include his wife, one son, Charles R. Woolson, Pulaski; eight daughters, Mary Anson, Kissimmee, Florida. ; Janet Schneck, Mannsville; Donna Godfrey, Richland; Millie Skufca, Lacona; GinnyZehr, Sandy Creek; Gayle Reynolds; Richland; Linda Loomis and Debra Groff both of Pulaski; twenty grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Smith, pastor of Park United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Richland Cemetery. James E. Worns James E. Worns, 36, Centerville Road, died Wednesday, September 16, 1987 in Osnabruck, West Germany. Mr. Worns was attending school in Germany and became ill on August 23. He was born December 19, 1950, a native of Amityville. He was the son of Frank and Una O' Sullivan Worns. Mr. Worns lived in Richland since 1976. He was employed for 13 years with the coating department of Schoeller Technical Papers Inc., Pulaski, which had sent him to the German school. He was a 1969 graduate of Sandy Creek High School. He married Barbara Ridgeway on November 13, 1976. Mr. Worns was a communicant of St. John's Church, Pulaski, He was a member, second assistant chief and former president of the Richland Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Worns also was a former member of Northern Oswego County Volunteer Ambulance and had served on the first aid team and fire brigade at Schoeller Technical Papers Inc. Surviving are his wife, the former Barbara Ridgeway; a son James E. Jr. at home; two daughters, Shannon and Nicole, both at home; his parents, Frank and Una Worns of Sandy Creek; a brother, Ronald P. of Pulaski; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 26 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Church, Pulaski, the Rev. Anthony Keeffe officiating. Burial was in Richland Cemetery. Episcopal Vestry Conference The Vestry of St. James Episcopal Church in Pulaski, together with other leaders in the church, will be attending a Vestry Retreat at Thornfield Conference Center in Cazenovia on Friday, October 9, and Saturday, October 10. The leader of the retreat will be the Rev. Jeffrey Meadowcroft from St. Mark's, Chenango Bridge, N.Y. Father Meadowcroft is also the chairman of the Diocesan Commission on Stewardship. He will be speaking to the Vestry on Friday night about the \Spritiual Aspects of Christian Stewardship\ and on Saturday morning, he will be addressing the group on the subject of \the Practical Aspects of Christian Stewardship\. Those attending the retreat will meet in the church parking lot at 4:45 p.m. on Friday, October 9. The retreat will begin with dinner at 6 p.m. On the following day, the conference will end with lunch at noon. It is hoped that this experience will deepend the sensitivity of the leaders of the parish in regard to the concept, of stewardship as giving one's whole life to the Lord. Also featured will be a limited collection of miniature, hand-carved jewelry pins.
