Completely Remodeled For Your Convenience Taylor-Vida Funeral Home 7643 Jefferson St. Pulaski, NY 298-5179 Religious B v Viewpoint Clyde Dupin \Heavenly House Cleaning\ It is a sin against God when preachers become interested in personal promotion, power, wealth, and fame. The scandalous Jim and Tammy Bakker story continues to unfold with revelations of booze, drugs, sex, and the abuse of ministry funds. Without doubt, it is the most tragic religious scandal of this century. This man was capable of so much better, but years of covered sin finally destroyed his creditability, self-respect as a person, . and disappointed millions. The Christian World must take heart and seek repentance and restoration for the climate that permitted this to happen in the first place. Long after we are gone, God's business will go on as though we were never here. This shameful episode has hurt the cause of Christ- Many good pastors, evangelists, and Christian leaders feel the effects of this spiritual regression. We must look at the bright side and take hope. At a time of doubt, confusion, and division, Jerry Falwell stepped forward. In the spirit of Christian civility, he has agreed to help another ministry. Jerry Falwell has nothing to gain; and may even lose, but he has displayed maximum grace and love by taking the risk. I appeal to churches of all persuasions to pray and support this man. The church is on display; and its enemies have been given choice material for attack. In this time of heavenly house cleaning, hopefully, the church will be redirected to its New Testament goals of evangelism and proclaiming Jesus Christ as Saviour.
