So he could ship more arms to Iran.\ Albert Perkins, Pulaski \Good health!\ Funds Available For Rural Fire Departments Funds to help rural fire companies improve their fire protection capabilities will be available again this year, Environmental Conservation Commissioner Henry G. Williams has announced. \This program has enabled rural fire companies to provide better protection and a greater measrue of safety to residents in their com- munities, ,v said Williams, \and I urge them to apply for this program.\ The department expects that $81,700 in federal funds will be available for the program this year. The deadline for submitting completed ap- plications is March 27, 1987. All projects should be planned so that they will be completed by September 18, 1987. Projects eligible for funding include: •Safety Equipment for rural firefighters; •General firefighting equipment; •Communications and home alert equipment for rural firefighters. Projects not eligible include: •Acquisition of land; •Construction of buildings and facilities: •Acquisition of major apparatus; •Acquisition of maintence items. To be eligible, a fire compriay must be located within a town'of fewer than 10,000 people and must have 50 percent of the project funds readily available for use as a matching grant. The highest priority will be given to applications from fire companies in unprotected or inadequately protected rural communities that received no previous funds under the Rural Community Fire Protection Program and those having an Insurance Services Office rating that reflects inadequate coverage. Training of rural firefighters is provided for under a cooperative agreement with the Divsion of Fire Prevention and Control in the Department of State and is jointly funded by the federal and state govern- ments. Applications for the Rural Community Fire Protection Program can be obtained by writing to: Bureau of Forest Protection and Fire Management, Department of Environ- mental Conservation, 50 Wolf Road - Room 408, Albany, N.Y. 12233-0001. Gene Webb has added music video tapes to his stock of tapes and records at the Disc Connection. Titles include rock, pop and country music artists. Customers of the Disc Connection may now watch, as well as listen to, their favorite music. The record and tape store, located in downtown Pulaski, has expanded to include the rental of music video tapes. \They're a good alter- native,\ owner Gene Webb said. He'll carry concerts, videos and greatest bits tapes, all available for $2.50 per day. On Tuesdays, two may be rented for the price of one. Gene now has 55 rock, pop, and country titles in stock, and plans to add 10 new tapes per month. Webb invites all music lovers to \come in and browse. Pick out your favorite.\ r NSDAR Of Pulaski To Meet Pulaski Women's Civic Club To Convene March 5 The Pulaski Women's Civic Club will meet at 12:30 on March 5, Thursday, at the Congregational Church for a covered dish luncheon. Members are asked to bring table service and a dish to serve. Committee members are Glenna Milligan, Rita Carnes, Elizabeth Cham- pney, Emma Clark. On Dean's List Laurie Crandall, the daughter of Ron and Linda Crandall of RD 4, Halsey Road, Pulaski, has been named to the Dean's List for the fall semester at the Southampton Campus of Long Island University, Southampton, New York. This honor is given to students who achieve a semester average of 3.25 or higher out of a possible 4 points. Miss Crandall is a freshman at the campus, majoring in marine biology and a 1986 graduate of Pulaski high school. Pizza Sale Scheduled Cheese and pepperoni pizzas will be sold by ad- vance order by the Pulaski OES Chapter, to benefit the Tracy Vincent Fund, which has been started to assist the family with expenses. Tracy had an un- fortunate car accident and is still in serious condition in the hospital. Pizzas with cheese are $3.50 and with pepperoni $4. and will be ready on Friday, February 27.
