School Daze SCCS News by Pam Card The Sandy Creek students sponsored a bake sale, February 10. The money from the sale will be given to the Caroll family who lost their house when it burned to the ground. February 14, the students had a sweetheart dance, from 8-11 p.m. The students in school are saving cans and bottles to raise money to help Sherry Wilson and her father replace the clothes and necessities that they lost in a house fire, during the winter storm. It would be very helpful if everyone would save cans and bottles so both Sherry and her father could go shopping. Thank-you very much for helping them. The next regular Board of Education Meeting of the Al t mar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District will be Thursday - February 26, 1987 at 7:30 p.m. in the Middle-Senior High School Library. Along with the high school students participating in a cross- country skiing unit and the Tug Hill Tourathon event being held here, the elementary students par- ticipated in their own Winter P.E. Carnival Day February 5 under the direction of physical education teacher Ellen Stockwell and teaching aides Rose Graham, Karen Nemier, and Sherry Glazier. This was the third year for such an event and all turned out successfully again with students having an enjoyable outdoor sports experience. With some new snow earlier in the week, conditions were good and the sunny weather couldn't have been better for their third annual carnival. The students in grades K-5 participated in a snow shovel race, plastic sled races, penguin sack race, smooshing, human pinball, soccer innertubes, toboggan races, and a follow the leader train. Each class in grades 3-5 also made snow sculptures to show off their creativity and workmanship with the abudnant North Country Snow for the Snow Sculpture Contest. . All the students had a great time with the variety of outdoor learning experiences and, on returning inside, enjoyed warming cups of hot chocloate, provided by PAYE (Parents Affecting Youth Education and served by volunteers Bonnie Kunz, Jane Peter, Terry Reid, Stacy Peter, Pat Ingraham, and Mrs. Charles Bates.)
