These steps are designed to prevent further problems with the tin roof, such as peeling paint. Other plans include cleaning the hardwood floor, and staining it to obtain a uniform color. Downstairs, sub-flooring will be installed, and marble flooring will be inlaid in areas receiving public traffic. Carpeting will be laid in the areas where town offices are located. The architect has been in contact with the New York State Department of Parks and Recreation, Historic ..Preservation division, for advice on preserving the murals. He is also in- vestigating the reported existence of three other sketches by the same artist. A tentative schedule was summarized by Maryak. He said that bids were awarded last Thursday, and that work may possibly begin by the end of this month. In mentioning the many purposes the courthouse serves, such as housing satellite offices of the County Health Department, the Veteran's Service Agency, and Social Security, Town Offices, Judicial Chambers and district offices of the Oswego County Court, Soule noted that State Unem- ployment processing will be moved out of the building by the end of October. The courthouse was con- structed in 1819, and ex- panded in 1858, and again in 1887. Some of those present at the meeting recalled at- tending dances, and basketball games upstairs. Soule thanked those in attendence for their interest and said that he welcomed additional suggestions. \We won't get it all done this year, but we'll continue to work on it.\ he concluded.
