Maude's Memo RedfieId Village Monday, May 26, 1986 Banner Times-Page-9 IT NEVER FAILS Mrs. Debbie Montieth was in Baldwinsville vising Marianne Hesseltine and daughter Christina recently. Mrs. Alice Babcock is still recuperating at home she'll be with the cast three more weeks anyway. Her grandson Martie Shaw of Pulaski is in the House of the Good Samaritan Hospital. He has a cracked skull from colliding with another boy at baseball practice last week. Martie was scheduled to go to the Mercy Hospital by ambulance from the H.G.S. hospital on May 19, for some tests and then transported back to the HGS. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Montieth worked on getting their swimming pool ready for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Perry Yerdon are getting their pool ready, too. We would like to extend our sympathy to Ron and Christine Amico Bumpus and family. Christine's brother passed away around May 16. Christine planned to go to Florida for the funeral. The Redfield Redskins took Second overall at Newark, on May 17. Mexico Bandits took first. They were the only two teams from Oswego County. There were seven teams in competition. The next pushball and firematics will be June 6 and 7 at Canandaigua, for the NYS Northern Central Competition. The Lacona Firemen will probably have pushball at their Field Days on June 1. The Redfield Square has been getting a good crowd on Saturday evenings with the live band. They'll have music through to June. There is no school on May 26 and 27 in observance of Memorial Day. The Redfield Vol. Firemen stood by at the Orwell Fire Station on May 17 while the Orwell Firemen were at their banquet at Altmar. The Stave Mill Club had a work day at their Club House on May 17. The Redfield Reading Library would like to thank the person who donated the Newsweek sub- scription to them. It is greatly appreciated. The Redfield Reading Library, which is housed in the Redfield Community Church is open on Tuesdays 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is open to the public and if there is a special book that you would like or need, you can make a special request and they'll try their best to get it for you. They are going to feature a Summer Film Festival on Thur- sday, June 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Redfield Fire Station. There will not be any admission charge. The two films for that evening are \Heidi\ and \George\. There will be popcorn and juice drink available for 45 cents. Adult and teenager volunteer readers are needed. Beginning in June at 10 a.m. there will be Saturday Story Hour. Anyone who would like to donate an hour of reading at the Libraby on Saturdays is urged to contact Helen Johnston or Christine Smith or stop into the library during hours. The library is growing and it takes people to make it a success. Howardville Happenings By Mrs. Donald Wiltse Pugway United Methodist Church serrvices at 9:15 a.m., Sunday School 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 28 7:30 p.m. the Black River-Ontario Caucus will be held at the Mannsville Church at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 31 at 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. is Bishop's Teaching Day at Oneida First UMC, Main Street (Rt. 46). Reservations to host church requested. Thursday, June 5 at 7:30 p.m/the Parish Council will meet at the Dugway church house. The Rev.. Richard Pero and Mrs. Clyde Canfield •' attended the District Conference at the First Church Watertown on Sunday. We attended the District Conference at Rome First UMC. Patrick Duegaw and children of Kansas visited Mr. and Mrs. Herman Nash and Mrs. Duegaw. They were in New York for the committal service for the late Mrs. Patrick Duegaw. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Craig of Central Square were Tuesday evening visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bennett and family. Randy Bennett and friend Susan and Mrs. Karl Trumble and daughter Mandy of Hastings Center were Friday evening visitors of Mr. and Mrs. George Priest. Randy held an outdoor plant party at the home of his mother, Mrs. Edward Bennett on Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Wiltse called on Mr. and Mrs. John Leeman at Amboy Center and later had dinner at the Town House on Friday evening. Birthdays are May 27 - Jason Nash; May 31- Jim Priest; June 6- Rene Zelinka; June 7- Misty Stein f eld Anniversaries-May 31- Mr. and Mrs. Carlton House; Rev. and Mrs. Allan Dickinson; June 3- Mr. and Mrs. Philip Gracey. In fact, this morning I was so mature I could hardly get out of bed.\ Mr. and Mrs. Michael Pawlenko and son Adam visited us Saturday. Plans Sale A rummage sale will be held on June 6 from 9 to 2 at the Masonic Temple, Broad Street, Pulaski. This sale will be sponsored by the Past Matrons of Pulaski Chapter 159 and Lake Ontario Chapter 124. Summer is just beginning, and there are plenty of events to keep everyone busy. Besides enjoying our beautiful countryside and river, and the obvious, fishing, residents and/or visitors may: - attend a chicken barbecue. Many organizations hold these fund-raisers through out the summer. - participate in or watch the Pulaski/Eastern Shore's Triathalon, July 19 (rain date, July 26). More information on this canoe, bike and foot race may be obtained by calling the Chamber office at 298-2213. - visit Art In The Park, August 9. This show will feature photography, drawings, sculptures and paintings. - attend the Salmon Derby and Salmon Festival, September 12, 13 and 14. Other than events, Pulaski (and surrounding areas) have plenty of attractions hefe for residents and non-residents alike. Corps To Meet J.B. Butler Corps will meet Monday, June 9 at Anne Lindseys home at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be furnished by Mary DeLong and Maxine Snider. Please be prompt. Sandy Creek O.E.S.
