Crandall Monday, May 26, 1986 Banner Times-Page-11 Pulaski Students Travel To Albany A trailway bus took twenty people to Atlantic City on Saturday, what beautiful weather we had. The Boardwalk was really crowded with many people wading in the ocean; however, as soon as the sun went down the Boardwalk was deserted as it was cold and windy. Those enjoying the trip were Shirley Rice, Marie Edwards, Joan Claflin, Marge Day, Millie Tryon, Shelly Tryon, De.bbie Dinehart, Shirley Dinehart, Patty Mooney of Manchester, Barb Shutts of Adams, Angie and Pat Audlin of Oswego, Nancy Potter, Lori Potter, Marge Pacific, Dorothy Scharon, Irene Hays of Henderson. Phyllis Smith of Rome, Leon and I. I took in the Super Stars and Stripes Revue held at the Atlantis Casino Hotel put on by Jeff Katash. They did a dance and song by Fame, song by Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Willie Nelson, Lionel Richie, etc. It was a good show. We picked up 26 more people in Syracuse. We were late getting home because a airplane crashed into two homes and fell to the ground between them and all buses were detoured to another road. Thelma and Ernie Meister, Leon, Sue and I enjoyed dinner at the Wigwam Hotel Thursday. Our grandson, Alex, was one year old on May 18. We went over and spent the afternoon with him and Katie. He is just starting to walk, and how we enjoyed watching him- David Ingraham and Kristine were in Rochester to attend his aunt's funeral. Dave and Pat Ingraham are enjoying watching the Today Show, as the ship they took their cruise on \The Norway\ is cruising down the East Coast and it shows different places they sloped at. Weekend guests of the Maxwell's were Kurt Youker, Trade Soule and Jessica Alexander. Carolyn Harm entertained her nephew and wife, John and Karen Cullerton of Macdeon, N.Y. who spent the weekend with her. Her sister, Sally and John Cullerton of Johnson City visited Saturday. On Sunday Doug, Connie and Jill Sweredoski of Pulaski visited and Frank and Jill Eddy of Pulaski also visited. The Jerry Brown family has been working on their lawn and it is beginning to shape up nicely looks great. Cindy Moore, daughter of Ruth and Eric Moore is graduating from College next week and will be a teacher at Danielson, Conn. Marty Maloney and daughter Margaret attended a baby shower for her sister Dotty Doane of Eastwood at the home of their mom, Dorothy LaManche of East Syracuse. Over 30 people attended the shower given by Dotty* s neices Marion Dillabough made two lovely cakes for the shower. '• Jim and Marion Dillabough visited some lawn sales. Millie and BeekyTryon-, Ken, Millie and Tommy Tryon attended the reception for Matthew and Jermey Watson following their baptism in church in Phoenix. They are the sons of Diane and Harry Watson. Bill and Audre Higby were dinner guests of Leonard and Janice Brault at the Fireside Inn in Baldwinsville last week. Among the guests were son John Robinson and his fiance, Cheryl Brault and her grandmother. Audre Higby and daughter, Michelle attended the antique show at Dewitt Community church and last Saturday Bill and Audre at- tended a beautiful wedding of his cousin Gary Hill at Lowville Methodist Church. They got home and with grandson John Mazur were able to attend the roast beef dinner at the Sportsmen's Clubhouse. Last week, the Higbys saw two grandchildren celebrate their birthdays. Meggie Robinson of Fulton was two years old and Christina Farnsworth of Sandy Creek was one year old. Dale Fravor celebrated his bir- thday on May 15 and his brother Todd of the U.S. Navy celebrated bis on May 16. Bill and Grace Rubley and Al and Mary Nelson of Oswego attended Lilac Sunday in Rochester and report a huge crowd. Leon and I took Harwood Bentley and Gladys to the VA Hospital Monday. George and Betty Carr enjoyed a ride to Watertown through Honeyvifle and Rodman. Leon and I joined Bill Bennett at the new Altmar Hotel for lunch. High Rise Highlights By Norma Gareau Peg Mandigo was a Mother Day guest of her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gaynes and Bev. and Mary. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Barney of Carogn Lake had lunch with her mother Nettie Ostrander on May 19. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ostrander from Florida called on his mother Nettie Ostrander over the weekend. Last week I didn't write the news as I was in Richland working on the cheese program. Today the Senior Citizens go to Ames plaza for shopping etc. The next trip wfll be June 4. Mable Straight is a patient in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Watertown. Wm. Cramer has returned from a stay in the Good Samaritan Hospital. We were saddened by the passing of one of our neighbors in Springbrook a week ago Sunday, Catherine Rowefl of the third floor. Hazel Slocum took me to Oswego Tuesday to visit my motheT who is also her aunt Edith Lester in Hillcrest Nursing Home. She is pretty good. Thelma LeClair and son Philip had dinner with her granddaughter Julie Joss at Murphy's last Wednesday. Some of our neighbors have returned from their trip to Hawaii. Eva Bagley and Elizabeth Pratt. They had an enjoyable time. We are getting several new neigh- bors. Recently, Senator John M. McHugh [R-Q 46th Senatorial District and Assemblyman Ray T. Chesbro [R-Phoenix] met with students from the Pulaski Junior-Senior High School, who had traveled to Albany to take a tour of the Capitol and get a firsthand view of the New York State Legislature. Senator McHugh and Assemblyman Chesbro had the opportunity to address the group during their visit. Informational Meeting Set An informational meeting about the adoption process will be held Thursday, May 29, at 7 p.m. at the Oswego County Department of Social Services, Spring Street, Mexico. \If you like children and have ever considered adoption as a way of increasing your family size, please accept our invitation to attend this meeting,\ said a spokesman for the agency. \Many children throughout New York State are waiting for a permanent home. A majority of these children are black, many are physically or mentally challenged, and most are over age eight. Tryouts will be June 14 at the Mexico Middle School. The time is 10 a.m. and ail Scholastic Athletes are welcome to attend. For more information contact Dominick CkririeDo at 963-7500. A Tee Tirr : By Ted Preset \-T Golf is in full swing at The Elms. The tournament schedule has begun and the leagues are well into their first month's play. May 18 featured a new event for Elms golfers, a combination Red Ball and triple-best-ball tournament for men's foursomes. Using their three best scores out of four on each hole (with handicap) the winning total was 199 shot by Fran Dashnau, Danny Barbeau, Pat Hughes and Skip Rose. Tom Blount, Paul Fuller, Harry- Butler and Ted Prescott were second with 203. Each foursome was issued a special red ball which each member of the foursome had to play on at least four of the 18 holes. If a team lost its red ball it was eliminated from the contest. Red ball winners were Walt Love, Mike Patell, Kerm Cook and Chris Hughes with a score of 79. Swingle, Finn, Purdy and Wolfram were second with a red ball score of 86. The Leagues The Ladies Thursday League started May 8 with five teams scoring perfect 6-point wins in their matches. After the second week's play May 15 only the PLzzuto-Fowler team remained in the perfect circle with 12 points. Nicholson-Stern dropped one point to stand second at 11 and Wurster-Youker and Scott- Sherman were tied for third at 10. In the Wednesday men's twilighi league, started April 30, Vida- Gallagher, G. Blount-Parsons and J. Sanderson-hahnstock were tied at 16 each. Harry Butler and Don Edick were fourth at 15 points. The Pulaski Fuel League started April 28 but no scores have been reported yet. The Monday mor- ning Senior's league is just getting started and Friday evening couples play began on May 23 (report next week). The Wednesday morning ladies 18-hole league held its organization meeting May 14 with a nine-hole match and luncheon. WLni Hoag's net 34 won first prize and Norma Butler was second with 39. The girls tee off at 9:30 each week and all players are welcome. Coming Events There will be a mixed fun tournament on June 1 with golf, lunch and prizes. Golf will be a modified scramble (captain and crew) with foursomes teeing off between 10 and 12 a.m. Players are asked to sign up in advance. Ernie Reuber's 8th annual Masters Invitational (by invitation only) is scheduled for play on June 7 and 8. This popular event is a t woman best ball tourney limited to 150 players. It offers $2500 in prizes, dinner and lunches both days and is regarded as one of the three top tournaments of the year at The Elms. On June 14 the Elms Golf Association members will hold a mixed invitational tournament followed by a dinner and dance. Advance registration for this e%em is requested.
