CSFA Meeting To Be Held At APW In March of this year, an organizational meeting of the Citizens' Scholarship Foundation of America was held at APW High School. Citizens from throughout the APW District were invited. Ms. Gina Amodio, Program Development Officer, explained to the assembled group the purpose of the organization and how a local chapter would benefit students at APW. It was decided that a chapter would be established, this may well prove to be one of the most important meetings ever held in this area. In this year's senior class, two students became recipients of $500 scholarships, through a Chapter Awards Incentive Program. They were Cassandra Sargent of Parish and Suzanne Bacon of Altmar. These students became eligible to receive these scholarships because a local chapter of CSFA, known as Dollars for Scholars was formed in our school district. Scholarships like these are an essential part of expanding the educational op- portunities of area students. This was a beginning but what will t happen 1 to those/students i in next* year's graduating class who want to continue their education and do not have adequate financial sources to do so? The hard facts are that many of them will be unable to develop their talents further because of the lack of funds both on national and local levels. What can we as citizens do to see that this young talent is not wasted? The Citizens' Scholarship Foundation has an excellent an- swer. Our local chapter of CSFA, Dollars for Scholars, can coor- dinate present scholarship \efforts and raise new scholarship money. Meeting \Active Chapter\ requirements will continue our students' eligibility for the CSFA Chapter Awards Incentive Scholarship Program, in which a minimum of two students will receive $500 scholarships in 1986. On August 7, at 7 p.m., the next meeting of APW Dollars for Scholars will be held in the high school library. Won't you consider participating in this community effort? Your involvement on a one-time or continued basis is essential to providing needed support to our students further educational goals. Please come and support this effort.
