DATED: July25,1985 Orwell Water District Extension No. 1 Orwell Town Board 7-29 2tc THE FRENCH CONNECTION, a flying team composed of pilots Daniel Heligoin, left, and Montaine Mallet, will bring their famous aerial stunts to the Oswego County Airport at the Air Fair on August 3 and.4. Gates will open at 11 a.m. both days with shows beginning at 1 p. m. Mass parachute drops from troop carriers were seen frequently near Fulton during the World War II years, when pilots in training practiced combat maneuvers at the Oswego County Airport. Parachutists will again dot the skies over the airport on August 3 and 4, during the Oswego County Air Fair sponsored by the County Legislature. Members of the Syracuse Skydivers, Club, free- falling hundreds of feet before opening their parachutes, will perform in shows on both days, along with hot air balloons, three acrobatic flying acts, mid-air rappeHing demonstrations by the Army's 98th Division helicopters, and ground displays of modern military helicopters and World War II combat planes. According to skydhrer David Rinefierd of Baldwinsville, one of three Syracuse-area skydivers who will perform at the Air Fair, under ideal conditions the parachutists build up speeds of over 120 miles per hour before-i^pening up their \chutes\. The three skydivers, who have a combined total of 2,400 jumps, will descend from a 5,500-foot altitude if weather conditions are ideal. The group, all licensed experts by the U.S. Parachute Association, has two sets of spectacular jumps planned for daily performances at the Air Fair. Shows will begin at 1 p.m. on both days of the Air Fair, with gates and ground displays opening at 11 a.m. In addition to exhibits of vintage planes from the Geneseo Air Museum and the Air National Guard's 174th Tactical Fighter Wing from Syracuse, the New York State Police and Onondaga County Sheriffs Department wfll display their law enforcement aviation equipment. The State Police Aviation Unit, based in Albany, last year acquired four sophisticated new helicopters for use in its law enforcement work around the state. Refreshments will be available at concession stands operated by the Fulton Jaycees, Lions Club, Rotary Club, and Kiwanis Club, and helicopter rides will be available.
