Leather Footwear Not Rationed Emphasizing that the only, type of footwear now rationed is men’s rubber boots and men’s rubber work shoes, Mr. VanOstrand, Chairman of the Wayne County War Pr!c2 and Rationing Board, said today that there is no restriction on sales of, leather boots and shoes or. lea ther footwear. The annonncement was made to clear up confusion that is report*-' to have caused some merchants to withhold sales of workmen’s type of leather footwear, in the mistak en belief that they too, arc covered by Ration Order Number Six. Sugar Dealers Urged To Turn in Stamps Sugar dealers were advised to day by Mi; VanOstrand, Chair man of thè Wayne County War Price and Rationing Board, to turn in their stamps and certificates be fore the lapsing of the validity date. His caution was given to re tailers, wholesalers, industrial and institutional users of sugar. “Since no replacement can be given by local boards for stamps and certificates upon which the validity date has lapsed,’ hardship results for those sugar users hold ing expired stamps and certifi cates, in that the amount of suga\ available to them'lsf reduced” Mr. VanOstrand said. In ’ urging sugar dealers to cash in their certificates before lh%y lapse, Mr. VanOstrand pointed out that the Office of Price Adminis tration, recognizing the difficul ties confronting such users when deliveries cannot be made within the validity period of the certifi cate, has made provision for a- exchange of such certificate. A slight rain during the lat ter part of the evening on Satur day chilled some, of the enthusiasm shown by the crowd, but it did toot dampen their spirit'for the Christ mas packages for the boys ln Ser vice. The Fire Companies and Ameri can Legion wish to thank the peo ple who helped make th is’bazaar a-financial success and know that they will have a more Merry Christinas knowing that the folks in'Service will receive a remem brance from their home town. We wish to* especially thank the members of the Palmyra Home Defense Unit, the Manchester Firo Department and their display of coordination of men.
