He also had to complete a public service project of significant value to the community. Macedon Town Supervisor George Barnes described the Bullis Park pro ject organized by Joran. Barnes and Jordan approached the town board with a plan to establish a nature trail in the park. “We were a little skeptical at first,” said Barnes. “We thought it would be difficult for anyone to puil that off ” ^However, said Barnes, the scout im pressed the board with his organized and very “Specific plana. The nature trail opened June 8. “It was a lovely project in its orgin and it will last,” said Barnes. “It was totally fitting for an eagle scout pro ject. It was gratifying for Jad and hiB folks and scouting.\ Barnes concluded with a word to the younger scouts preBent. \Watfji the eagles they fly high.” Jad Jordan (Photo 6y Joan Mdore) ...Eagle Scout c o m m e n t a r y ____________ a n d o p i n i o n Yes, Virginia ( e d . n o t e - A s i t h a s d o n e t h e l a s t f e w C h r i s t m a s s e s t h e C o u r i e r - J o u r n a l is a g a i n t h i s y e a r r e p r i n t i n g a s e d i t o r i a l t h a t f i r s t a p p e a r e d i n th e N e w Y o r k S u n o n S e p t . 2 1 , 1 8 9 7 . Did Christmas sneak up on you when you weren’t looking? It has hap pened to us off and on over the years when we were especially busy in December Then, some morning I would wake up and suddenly try to think of what I had to do for Chnstmas. Fortunately, some years, I had done quite well. In others, no Let's hope you have done that which had to be done, and all ahead of time It ib said the two busiest days of shopping are the Fnday and Satur day after Thanksgiving. ArHooked at all those people buying b o much a month ahead, it seemed aW ever^onfe is going to be ready anr-tnat we would be the only ones who needed last minute shopping That is not true, for the last week is still a good time to watch the late ones scurying With their packages We have always liked electric trains and remember the train store at Interstate Mall in Orlando. They had six large sets running at the same time Parents and children were wide-eyed as they saw those perfect sets all running at once They would then go over to the long counter and pick out all sorts of Wreea and packages filled with all they needed for their set We had a large train Bet on a 5 by 10 sheet of plywood It was a happy Christmas morning as we and the boys worked carefully on changing and making larger the family set We felt it was one of the best parts of Christmas day I wish you a Merrv ( hristmas and hope you get all you need as well as some of the thing* you want To crown it all 1 wish you may h a v e grmd health as we celebrate the b i r t h nt ( hriH
