In default of this ball the man -was committed to the county jail. Mrs. Sieger vrafi arreeted in Now Jersey on a charge made by her husband and now Is out on hail. A complete reconciliation between the couple having been effected, this charge will not be pressed and if her release Is obtained Mrs Sieger will return to her home. Tlie story told yesterday by the Beventeen-year-oid girl was the old. old recount of a little Birl crav- ing tor excitement and pleasure in 'her home and finally seeking it elsewhere. Mm. Sieger regretted the course ehe had chosen and ap- peared in court fully convinced of her error. \1 have been n, fool.\ she characterized herseat. and stated that It her trouble can be straigbtencd out and she can get back to her husband's hcraie, ehe will be content. During her ex- amination and croes-examination she retoained composed, glvlns her testimony in a simple and direct manner. When her e.xamInaUon waa con eluded, however, and Mrs. Sieger wa« back on the bench by her hus- band. her composure broke end she sobbed for a few mln4te». The reconciliation waa made evident when her husband, coming to her comforU slipped his arm ai:ound the girl's ehoulder. The wife's examinatltm waa con- ducted by former Judge Joeeiii B. The defendant Is rep- reeented by former Aaalatant Dls. trict Attorney Frank InnlB. The witnees began her story at the time she met McGulre. about two months ihefore tbe couple ran away the end of hi»t month. Site claims that Mc- Guire stlggested ttUs course to her. telling her she wae treated as a prisoner and ho wostld help her. She knew that he was married., al- Ibough not living with his wife and for some Ume there was talk of the two going to Chicago witere the defendant declared they cojld be divorced. The Newark trip w.-m Bnally de- cided on. In ticoordance wili a prearranged plan, she said, on the mcming ol June 22 sho took a Eultcage with a few personal articles of .women's ware and went to the Elizahelh- port ferry. Here ehe tejophoned to McGulre. who met her and together they went to Newark. Mrs. Sieger set out in detail the search for a room and one finally being located on Broad street. Newark. Here, she stated, they •passed as man and wife. They lived and slept at this room for a week, she claimed, in her story going Into the most intimate de- tails of tliclr life there. So tar In her story she had-t>een led along by her aUomey, Judge Handy, but now the burden ot croes-examhiatlon was taken up by Mr. Innis. He queaUoned the girl at considerable length, with quiet qucAtiona dra-wing out many points • that had not been totiched on. She had only been married year and a half, she said, and be- cause of the confinement had be- come dlssatlsfled. Under this ex- amination ehe told of other pleas on the part ot McGuire for her to leave her husband- She testified that he had said that he would get her It he had to kidnap her. At the conclusion of tlao case, Mr. Innls moved for a dlsmleeal. claiming that in the tfistimpny, pre- sented Uiere was no suggestion of immorality untA after the oouple entered Jersey.
