Mr. Dobbin, of Morristown, occupied the pulpit of the Presbyterian church. Sunday last, taking for his text the words: \He is not fit to live. 1 ' In the course of his sermon Mr. Dobbin showed that fitness for living meant fitness for dying. He said he hoped to live as long as he could be useful in the service of the Divine Master, after which to enter into the roward of the righteous, of which he drew a glowing pict- ure. ... .Mr. Beecher in hisleoture at Ogdens- burg, last week, said \He was in favor of the higher education of women. On Friday last, Mr. Parm- eter's horse was seen to emerge from the yard, at the Universalist parsonage, and scamper down Main street. The racket drew quite a number to their door* to see what was the matter, but he had turned down Depot street before he could be capt- ured. On making the turn, the waggon to which he was attached threw him off his leet, but regaining his equilibrium he pursued his free and easy course to the Franklin house, where he deoided to put up for re- pairs. Making » short turn he struck the street lamp post, broke'the lamp and almost completely demolished the wagon. The howe was considerably cut lip but hot seri- ously injured. ,.. .E.
