Fire. —T h e Norfolk Gazette states, that the large and valua ble Woolen Factory, with all its contents, situated on Norwalk river, owned by Capt. G a rrit H. Newkirk, was entirely consum ed by fire on the 20 th May. A young man name.! Jacob H. Camp, who slept in the third sto ry of the building, perished in the flames. It was no doubt the work of an incendiary, as an at tempt had previously been made to fire the building. Loss esti mated at $ 6000 . Breach o f promise. — At a late circuit court held in this village by his honour Judge Platt, Sally Sleght, of Clinton, obtained a verdict against Stephen Barnes, of tbe same town, for Si 500, for a breach of promise of marriage. Zea, presented to the minister f<.r foreign affkirs, and to the foreign ambassadors, requi ring the recognition of the repub lic of Colombia. This document in extreme^ long. The following is an extract. The intentions of this govern ment arti as follows : — 1 - That the go'ernment of Co lombia recognize all existing gov ernments, whatever may be their origin and their form. 2 . That it will not communi cate wilh governments which do Hot on their side recognize tbe government of Colombia. 3. The fcubstriber flat-* ters himself that he has rem edied these defacts, by nfeans of his newly invented machine for cleaning Clover Seed,—for which he has obtained a Latent, and th6 practical operation of whicn he is desirou* as well for the prosperity of the agricul* tural interest, as for his own emolument* of extending throughout the anion.
