It nay be proper to mention here that the Cavern has been but partially explored, and that no one who has been into it, although •ome suppose they have travelled more than 100 rods, pretend to have found the extent of it, or to know the number of rooms, balls and chambers which it contains. Yestetday was taken in Middletown Point Cove, an extraordinary fish, which to us, id the vicinity, is a peifect non-de- scupt. It is, as far ai we «ee, neither whale, porpoise, Sturgeon or shark, or pertaining to any of their respective spe cies; anu yet, strange as it may seem , resembling all uf them. It m easures, from the extremity ot the snoat to the termination of the tail, 32 feet 10ft i.ich- es. W here the head joins the neck, it is about four feet 10 inches across ; the diameter of the body, from the ridge of the back to the lowest part of the belly where thickest, is precisely 6 feot one inch. One of these buildings is 90 teet long, 40 feet w nle, and three stories high, [■ait of which, is occupied as a dry goods store,— the other one, is large and con venient. Nearly opposite the centre of the village, another basin is now nearly completed, on which two more store houses will soon be erected. In addition to the advantages, which have already resulted lo this village, to gether with those that may hereafter be anticipated, i d consequence ot the Canal pasting through it, the Montezuma T u rn pike, which, it is thought, will be com pleted this season, must, in connexion with the Canal, bring most of the travel from the east and west through thia place.
