Mr and Mrs Hollis Warner and Mr and Mrs Wesley Warner en- joyed a weekend trip to Lake Mo- honk. They reported that the old Shawangunk Mountains were as ioveiy as ever. Mrs Raymond Young of Bridge- hampton spent Thursday with Mrs George C Young. We regret to report that Miss Eugenia Young is on the sick list. Mrs Everett DeFriest , Mrs Ohl- horst and Miss Blanche Young are attending the Work Shop ot New York University at Sayville. They have enrolled for the year. The Cheery-Chums held their first meeting of the fall at the home of Mrs Harold Goodale on Thursday, Oct 21. At this meeting the following officers were elected: President , Miss Marilyn Downs; vice president . Miss Joan Magee; secretary, Miss Eleanor Tyte; treasurer. Miss Joan Voss , and news reporter . Miss Gloria Breiten- bach. At this meeting the girls baked a delicious cake. When your correspondent suggested that a sample should have been give n him so that he could write of its excellence at first hand he was told that unfortunately it had all been consumed at the meeting. Perhaps this hint may be borne in mind at the next meeting. Four members of the club attended the Eastern Suffolk County Achieve- ment Club on Friday. Mr Schon- ing has planted some 50 young trees and a number of shrubs, and a consiredable amount of ivy about the house. Naturall y this work has added much to the gen- eral appearance of the property Miss Helen Conklin , formerly of Aquebogue is a patient in the Southampton Hosp ital where she recently underwent an operation. Mr and Mrs Charles Trifiero of Elinhurst have closed their sum- mer house in Hoccabauk for the winter. The Long Island Produce and Fertilizer Co have been enclosing their potato washing building .;t the Aquebogue Station. Lloyd Corwin has gone to St Louis , Mo . on a business tri p, and plans to visit the Purina Mills Co plant. On Sunday evening the Rev Clarence E Wells spoke to the United Youth Fellowship in the Methodist Church in Riverhead George M Taft Jr is president of the Fellowship. Boys and g irls of high school age come from Riv- erhead , Baiting Hollow , Sound Ave and Aquebogue. For the pres- ent the subject under discussion is The Bible. Mr Wells spoke on How we got the Bible and the out- standing translations of the Bible. Ambrose Corwin celebrated his birthday recently by giving a par- ty to a number of his relatives and friends at North Folk Country Club , Cutehogue. The tables were attractively decorated and the ladies were presented with lovely corsages. Allen Harris of South- ampton furnished music with his accordion. A luncheon will be served at 12:30 and a dinner at 5:30. The program for the day will be found on an- other page in this paper. The as- sociation meets with us only now and again so it is hoped the peo- ple of the parish will make a spe- cial effort to support the meet- ings. AQUEBOGUE Suffolk DAR to Meet Nov 1 Suffolk Chapte r , Daughters of the American Revolution , Mrs Elmer J B Sawyer , Regent will hold its first fall meeting on Monday, Nov 1 at the Congregational Parish , Riverhead. Reports will be given of the an- nual New York State Conference held Oct 6-8 in Rochester , N Y , and attended by the Regent , Mrs Sawyer and the Vice Regent , Mrs Arthur M Hulse of Westhampton Beach. The chapter entered at Rochester , in the State contest for girl homemakers , a blue wool dress made by Miss Dorothy Klimajeski of Sound Ave. This beautifully made dress was a blue ribbon win- ner in the spring 4H fashion re- view in Smithtown , the local DAR contest in May, the State Fai r at Syracuse in September and finally again in the State DAR contest in Rochester. The Regent presented this firs t prize to Miss Klimajeski nt the 4H nrhipvpmpnt awards night at the Riverhead grammar school on Friday evening. The chapter will again offer this year for the encouragement of our young folk , the prizes for junior and senior 4H groups in their dress project , also gold histo ry medals for the highest grade in American History in final examina- tion in the Greenport , Southold , Mattituek and Riverhead Hi g h Schoo l graduating classes. The chapter will also sponsor a senior g irl from each of these Hi gh Schools in the DAR good citizenship con- test , the awards being a $50 bond in the judicial district and a $100 bond for the state prize. The Regent attended on Wednes- day the annual birthday luncheon of William Dawes chapter at Law- rence Inn , Rockville Centre. Mrs George A Kuhner , National chair- man for Ellis Island , was one of the honored guests. The chapter was also represented ujr Ua ne- gent at a meeting of the Nassau- Suffolk National Defense Round Table in Garden City on Monday. Plans are being completed for a National Defense meeting in Free- port on November 12 with Miss Hazel Nielson of Washington as guest speaker. Miss Nielson is edi- tor of the National Defense News. The business meeting was held in the morning, at which time , Mrs Herman Hart- men of Huntington was elected the new Suffolk Count y chairman. A delicious luncheon was served by the Pilgrim Daughters , after which they had group singing led by Mrs J Foster Terry of Southold. They also had a guest speaker , Mr Thomas Lanahan of Brook- haven National Laboratory. O'Kula-Pop laski Nuptials —Photo by Adam* MRS STEPHEN O'KULA Joan Poplaski , daughter of Mrs Stella Bennett of Speonk and Ste- phen O'KuIa , son of Mis Leonora O'Kula of Calverton were united in marriage on Sunday at 4 p m , October 17 at St Isidore ' s R C Church in Riverhead. Rev C S E Biedrzycki performed the double ring ceremony. The bride , given in marriage by her uncle , wore a period gown in white bridal satin with a lace and orange blossom , pick-up over a hoop. Her finge r-tip veil of French illusion was caught with a lace crown and edged with lace. Her bridal bouquet was orchids , gar- denias and bouvardia shower ef- fect with babies breath. . The maid of honor , Emil y Cond- jella of Wading River , wore a peacock blue taffeta gown , period style , with pick-up over a hoop caught with red rose. She carried old fashioned basket of red roses , babies breath. The bridesmaids wore the same style gown as the maid of honor. They were Dorothy O'Kula of Calverton in a rose gown 1 and Elinore Shefchuk of Riverhead in a mint green gown. All wore bonnets that matched the gowns I in color and fabric. | I John O'Kula of Calverton acted as best man. The ushers were John Danowski and Frank Pelis of Cal- verton. The bride ' s mother wore a blue ! crepe dress with a corsage of red roses . The groom ' s mother wore a blue and white print dress with a corsage of yellow roses. A reception was held immedia- tely following the ceremony at John Ducks , Eastport , and was at- tended by about 100 guests. The bride ' s going away costume was a green gabardine suit. She wore black accessories. Mrs O'Kula attended Eastport Hi gh School. Her husband attend- ed Riverhead High School and is now engaged in farming. Previous to the wedding, Mrs O'Kula was given a shower b y her attendants at the home of Mrs Leonora O'Kula. 75 Attend Smoker Here The smoker of the Holy Name Society of St John the Evangelist Church. The article states that 900 , 000 stamps were sold and that 406 , 000 first day covers were can- celed. Robert E Fellows , superin- tendent of the Division of Stamps, speaking for Postmaster General Donaldson , stated that a printing order for 50 , 000.000 stamps has been authorized. Fur tiic design submitted by Commander Erick- son for the stam p a light Brahma cock bird owned by George E Winters , of Westhampton , was used.
