The Christian Science Society of Patchogue, the Suffolk County Tuberculosis Committee and other \ organizations alsti will have ¦ boo ths-011 the grounds. The Long Islan d Railroad Co. ex- perimental ^ station \ exhibit will again be in charge of Hal B. Fullerton ' . The Central ' islip State Hosp ital and the New York State School of Ap- plied Agriculture of Farmingdale , will as usual, have exhibits, under the direction of County Agricultural Agent-Foster. The Suffolk County Home bureau \ under the direction of the manager. Miss Kathleen McBride , and the ofTt- eeis and committee , will make a most commendable, showing of preserved vegetables and fruits arid millinery and clothing in the Home Bureau building jusi , west of the merry-go- round. - Music each day will be . provided by Prof. Ilarvy Spetliek' s crucU l>am! , ' There . will be no night fair this year. \ The officers of the Suffolk County Agricultural society are : President , Henry 'L. ^Brush , O iluntington; vice- president , Nathan II. Dayton. East Hamilton: secretary. Ellis T. Terry. Riverhead; treasurer , Hon. John L. Havens , Center . Moriches , board of \ managers. Messrs . .Havens , Terry and Albertson. The flower and vegetable shows will be of unusual importance this year . The rose exhibit is a new fea- ture. Farm Bureau The Farm Bureau will hold a \ com - munity contest. \ Two silver loving cups have been offered to the com- munities having best exhibits of pota- toes. Each entrant will show ten in- dividual peck samples at the Grange building. The crops are to be judged by a specialist from New York State College of Agriculture . \ . Potatoes will be rated on a stand- ard of excellence -— quality, freedom from blemishes , diseases , chemical in- juries , triteness to , type , and market shape and size. In front of the community exhibits are' p lanned sampies furnished \by local potato dealers carrying trade marks , etc. There will be no competi- tion between merchants, however. As Suffolk has more potatoes than any other county in the State, great i|' :erost may Be. expected in spuds at the fair. ' \ ¦ . ... . < New on the program this ysar :is a junior project—the Farm Burea u ' s poultry club. This organization has been most active near \Sound -avenue undeij, the leadership of Howard A. Wells. Fggs and chickens furnishocl by the Sall' olk Poultry association are to be exhibited. There will be more than 100 birds. Health Work Demonstration i i All p hases of public -health work carried on in Suffolk County will lie shown by means of posters and mnv- ' in.r p ictures at the County fair this year at the exhibit . of the Stiff oil; C o u n t v Tuberculosis ' unci Public Health association ' . Health literature will be distributed to all visitors 'in- dicating, an interest in any . -particular subject. \ .This year the State Department ol .Health will have nurses in-attendance to demonstrate the-subject of child hygiene and will show how babies \ clothes can be made so as . to. I)J must comfortable for the baby and easiest for the mother to make , Vnuidlc , and keep clean. As usual the association s, field nurses will be prepared to g ive firs t aid treatment to -anyone who may be injured during the fair. This feature has been of great service at previous fairs. Last year-the nurses-took care of a number of minor accidents includ- ing some that were of a «erious na- ture. During the automobiles races the nurses will be on emergency duly in the ' field ambulance. Child Health Exhibit . A cordial invitation is extended to all the \ women in , the county to visit the maternity and infancy exhibit at the Countv Fair at Rivet-head Septem- ber 21 to 2-1 , which is to be held by a Stale Department of Health nurse. She will demonstrate the latest ideas in outfits for the new baby and will outline bow mothers ' health clubs may be organized in this vicinity. The nurse will show how easy , baby clothes can be made so as lo be most comfortable for the bab y, easy for the mother to make , handle and keep clean. She will also be pre- pared to help organize a Mothers ' Health club for this district. Many communities now have these clubs. 'Wherever such a ' chili is organized the Division . of Maternity, Infancy and Child Hysionc will assist in securing a nurse trained in getting such a clttlj started . -, -- - ¦ - .
