The Vera Cruz H3 Hag letters from Mexico to the 9th, . stafing that the commissioners rejected <Erist's propositions. Santa Anna called ' R and appointed the 9th for the recommencement of hostilities. - Herera issued a proclamation to the Priests to in- cite the people to arms, and on the 8th Beott attacked Mill del Rey, and was re- pulsed according to the Diaro del Gobi- emo, with a loss of 400 killed and 600 - wounded. It is represented as the most desperate battle of the war. _ The Mexicans state their loss at 100 killed and 150 wound- «ed. . Gen. Leon was killed, and several Colonels also killed. It is said Santa Anna commanded in person. _ A Mexican account says a bomb shell fell among the American ammunition and exploded four of them, blow fng up 800 mon including GENERAL WORTH. Another account says that zt the batéle of the 8th the Amcricans Jost. 87 officers, and GEN. PILLOW is reported to be among them The action was recommenced on the 42th and continued all day. Letters from Qriziba to the 19th to Mr Dia- mond say that an oxpress arrived from Mexico bringing . the intelligence that FHeott was in the city of Mexico. Gen.
