It is gener- ally understood that the choite will fell - on the Hon. William Wright of Newark (late member of Congress.) - Ex-Gov- j «arnor Daniel Haines is spoken of as the Locofoco candidate. Hon. Charles C: Sratton (Whig) the first Governor of .. New Jersey under its new constitution, was elected in 1844 over John R.. Thomp son, (L. F.) by majority. His term - will expire, we believe, on or about the 10th of next January. 3 Two celebrated chieftains exil- ed from their respective countries, have just arrived upon our shores. | One is Paredes, the Mexican monarchist; the other is General Flores, the exiled mon- archist of the Republic of the Equator, who arrived at New York on Saturday in the French steamer Missouri. Both these Generals left Europe for this con- tinent within a few days of each other; one goes from London to Mexico, and another proceeds from Paris to New Y_ork Whatever may be the object of this sim- ultancous movement, one thing is certain «--their political \principles are too well known to be disguised..-Troy Whig.
