I am credibly informed that the Police last week areeste'd and sent to the State arsenal a case of Braudreth’s phis, marked “ Through by Express,” and that Governor M organ sustains their action on the ground that pills are the cause of internal commotions, and the public. safety demands rather sedative than purgative remedies. If I have heard it dbee, I have five hundred limes during the last five days, It is cm-lainly the one insufferable bore attending a “spell of weather” that every body you meet seems to be afflicted with an insane desire to tell you just what you knew before, and to ask a question which admits of but one answer. The weather just now, however, is remarkable that is, every one is making remarks about it—“such weather!”— the oldest inhabitant, venerable individual, has been heard to’ say noble contributors of immense supplies for the people of Kansas: for the integrity and future lionoj of our young Stetes not having at the- presetit time fifty hundred suffering, or in danger; of suffering starvation, we, as public journalists declare,, as we feel-in duty bound to do, that ho intelligent citizen '-ol Kan.sas believes there is any truth in these reports, but that they have been manufactured for, the purpose of deceiving the people at the East, and wringing from them charities that would be given freely on a fair representation of the facts as they do really exist. * B IG G S & E O S S E T E R , * M e a l J E s t a t e JEtroUer$r —AMD— GENERAL BUSINESS AGENTS, No. 73 N assau S tbeet , ______ RR-W YORK. The chan nel of the river is almpst entirely free of float ing ice, and the little that remains is so broken up and rotten that it does not offer any serious obstruction to boats. All along the river pre parations are being made by the owners of aafl 'and steam vessels to commence business. The Mohawk and surrounding creeks and streams' are entirely broken up, and the water was very high at Albany the first part of the week— reaching over the docks, and up Maiden Lane to the office o f the Hudson River R. R. Co.--' However, the river is not near so high as it was two weeks ago> and the damage will be slight when compared to' that of the former freshet.
