Thayer, author of the “ Pioneer Boy” and other popular works, is engaged up- a History of the Rebellion for the young, and that Messrs. Walker, Wise, &. Co., of Boston, will issue the first vol- ahout the first o f this mouth. The importance of such a work cannot he over estimated. The young ought to uudorstaiul the nature and history of this struggle, as a means of inspiring their hearts wnth patriotism, and attach ing them with all the ardor of youth to free institutions. There are lessons for them in this w.ar that can be derived from no other source, and we rejoice that they are about to appear in perma nent shape. All intelligent parents will desire to have their children instructed this subject, that they may not loose the lesson of the hour. The value of this History will not be confined to the j oung. Iil.'nij’ fain.alics cannot afford to purchase either of the histories of the Re bellion written avowedly for adults, the cheapest of which cost seven or eight dol lars. As this work of Mr. Thayer’s when couii'letcJ, will not probably cost half that, and yet will contain the sub- 6latice \f the liirger works (m.ade large Iiy ih.' iiitrodui tioii of public documents, . 1111 “ .'p. l■ches,A•l• ,i!iat few desire to read) th.-v ui’.l liud this ii valuable history for thf'.r Use, w liether they have children or not. Condensation is what our people erave ; mid thi.s we understand, will be a ehariwi-eriotlo of this Ilistdry of the Rc ■ This work, the price of whioh we learn from the publishers, is to be §1,25, should attr.act the attention of Book Agents, as it is destined to have an im mense sale all over the country. _ LAW.—Tom strikes Dick with a cane about as big as your little finger, ect him' i lawyer would tell the story some AGRICULTURAL. ............
