The administration will be recommending the establishment of a Junior Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps program (JNROTC) in the high school beginning in September, 1983. The public is being urged to come to the meeting to express their views on the creation of such a program in Brewster. The only other program in the immediate area is in Rye City Schools where Brewster's newly hired administrator of student services, George Zupko, was favorably impressed with the positive changes experienced in the past 3 years. A number of opportunities are made available to successful participants and Rye alone realized scholarships totaling well over $250,000 for last year's JNROTC graduates. ( Brewster School Supt. Dr. James A. Monk said, \The program's effect on districts presently involved has been most impressive. The students, both girls and boys, have been a positive and spirited element within the schools contacted. In addition, the Navy has paid for 90% of the expenses and looked very favorably on the graduates for college scholarships, entrance into the Navy, pay upgrades, and career counseling. We like the idea of another positive dimension to our strong high school curriculum.\ All interested citizens are urged to be present at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, in the District Office meetng room on Farm to Market Rd, Wayne Hudson loses false arrest suit A $1,350,000 lawsuit by Wayne Hudson of Lake Carmel and his mother, claiming he had been falsely arrested in 1979 in connection with the death of Mrs. Jean Conroy of Lake Carmel, was dismissed last week after a 4-day trial in U.S. District Court, Manhattan. , Mrs. Conroy was killed by a large stone that bounced onto the hood and through the windshield of her car as she was driving to work along Rte. 52 near Raymond Hill Cemetery in Carmel. The Hudsons sued Putnam County, Sheriff Ray Weizenecker, the Town of Kent, the Town of Carmel, the district attorney, Assistant DA James Rooney and Sheriff's Investigator Donald Killarney. The cases against all the defendants, except Killarney, were dismissed during the trial proceedings. The jury then returned a verdict finding that Investigator Killarney did have probable cause, at the time of the arrest, to arrest Wayne Hudson in connection with the Conroy death. Testimony during the trial indicated that Hudson falsely implicated himself in the Conroy case, which was a basis for his arrest. He was later released after investigation by the Sheriffs Office and the District Attorney's Office indicated Hudson was not responsible for the accident. Youth arrested in hit-and-run Peter Weymeyer, 21, was arrested Dec. 4 by sheriffs deputies after he allegedly drove away from the scene of a property damage accident about 11:10 p.m. on Fair St. in Carmel. Deputies said Weymeyer left a passenger behind and he was later located with the assistance of the passenger. He was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, unlicensed opera- tio and harassment toward a deputy, the Sheriffs Office said. Deputies said Weymeyer would not say where he left the car, but it was recovered about 3 a.m. Weymeyer was arraigned before Patterson Town Justice Fred Buechel and remanded to Putnam County Jail in lieu of $500 bail, the Sheriffs Office said.
