For the 1ast two seasons, l\li.chael has been principal cellist with the Oswego College Orchestra and is an active particiJ.Iant in student recitals and m the student string quartet program. He is a Music Department Scholarship winner. James Varner .from Watkins Glen is a semor music major stpdying piano in the class of Anthony Crain. His earlier piano studies were with Ethel Bassett of Watkins Gl.en. , . In addition to his mustc studies, James has already completed a major in business administrafion. In addition to his frequent ap- pearances as soloist and accompanist on student recitals, he has performed as peicussionist with the Oswego ColleJe Band. Amy Wamright from Clinton, a senior _philosophy- psychology major, is an organ student in the class of Joseph Line 1 havillg formerly stud1ed with Stephen :Best in Utica. She also serves as principal violist in the Oswego College Orchestra, and ts an active chamber player on that instrument: In addition to her academic work, Amy holds the position of organist at the Church of the Resurrection in Oswego, Stephen · Whiteley of Syracuse is il ·senior music major studying voice in the studio of' Leon Carapetyan. Among his former teachers is Frank .Hakanson. Stephen won the concerto Award last year also, and has a long list of ac- complishments as a solo singer in opera and concert performances and as a member of Chamber Sing~rs and StatesinJers.
