Blames Firs CommUsionert , \The responsibility for this fail ure of the company to live up to their part of the contract lies with out fire commissioners, who should see to it that this is done. Not flushing these hydrants permits silt and stones to accumulate in them and this It what reduces the pres sure. “ When the State road waa built, the contractors shoved their dirt off to the sides of tho roml. alirlost burying our hydrants, but nothing bos ever been done about digging them out, and there are several at the present time which are in such shni>e that it,would bo Imjoa- sible to turn a wrench on them. “ Furthermore, if a movement is started to purchase a new truck, it should not be' necessary for the firemen to have to start it. That, top, Is up to the commissioners, for it is their duty to see to it that the taxpayers of the fire district aiw given adequate fire prolpetion and if cuch protection Is lacking or impaired, it is the duty of the commissioners to- correct it. “ The commissioners; as far as I understand it, do not hold any stated meetings, and 1 know that Supervisbr Allison has had to keep after them time and again to got thorn to-hold at least one regular meeting and that one is for the compilation of the budget for each ensuing year. ” s It was said last night that none of the town board members had been invited as yet to attend the proposed meeting of the firemen next Monday night Secretary Fall Found Guilty of Bribery (Continued from pkse Court of Appeal* 1 WKen court adjourned, tke 73*year*old DoKeny mode Impeoiioned outburst of rage to a friend. “ The jury didn't try the <a*e, the judf* triad it,\ be •houled. Then Christie started the few minutes of confusion when he said that Foley had more right to share in the insurance than the other, two, because Foley was a taxpayer in the school district and that he Ttimda-hiir-Thiidrrtt- tw' the-achort.- Ch'ristie pointeej out that Fi.sher lives in Bardonia, outside of the school district. The other board members told him that they understod that there was' a ruling in force that insur ance be given to agents who have offices of business, rather than pri vate broken, and that they had merely obeyed that rule. Christie then informed his colleagues that any rule in force by any previous board did not apply to the present board at all, and should not influ ence their actions in the slightest. Foley has lived here all his life, yet you won ’ t give him business, but will give it to some newly-es tablished fconcern, ” he sqid. 1 was working imd^r the old ruling when I made that motion,\ Stedman replied. DePew Ihcq made a motion, to reconsider Stedman ’ s motion not to grant Insurance to Foley, and this, seconded by Stedman, was passed, lo bo followed immediately by an other motion from DePew ’ that Foley be given part of the .,.ur- pnee. This too was carried by the board members. Then, while mo- tionswerc flying thick and fast, Christie made one to reconsid-r tha-niotioii which granted ittettre unce to Wright Brothers and to August Fisher, Jr. This w^ sec- ondiul by Miss Cornelia Bodull, and was curried. Christie then pled With the board te 'Ip'ace youn business with old, established parties of the town.^ He then moved that their applica tion for insurance be denied. This was seconded by Miss Bedell, and. was passed, although Stedman de clared that ho felt that Wright Brothers should be entitled to share inasmuch as they are well known here. This motion waa carried, and marked the sixth motion made, sec onded and carried within'a slrjgt space of about five miputes or The board then took up the mat ter of the amount of the insurance to be placed* on the school, both Stedman and DePew being In fa vor of 80 per cont of the tital val uution, inasmuch as with un eighty per cent ooverage, a partial loss would be entirely paid. This per centage amounts lo K443,000, the total value of the))uilding and con- /{tents being placed a.t |552,766.
