Mr. Acheson comes to Dowling with a long list of credentials including: as the head of cataloging services at RAND Corp- oration Library in Santa Monica, California; as acting director of the Getty Conservation Institute Library; and most recently as project cata- loger at the Los Angeles Public Library, Santa Monica Mr. Acheson holds a B.A. in German Linguistics, an M.A. in Linguistics and an M.L-S. from the University of California. In addition to Mr. Acheson's appointment, Dowling College is also please to announce that Patriek Ba.rry of Holbrook has been promot- ed to assistant vice president for development. Most recently, Mr. Barry served as director of Annual and Planned Giving for Dowling. Assistant Deputy Suffolk County Executive John C. Gallagher of Miller Place has been chosen to selVe on the State Relations Advisory Committee for the American Red Cross, New York State Council. Mr. Gallagher recently headed up the Suffolk Chapter's efforts during the wildfires in Rocky Point and Westhampton.
