Howanl For the 420 or so youngstem in the Bayport-Blue Point Little ~.ague, the AAA field, with its bleachers and wooden dugouts, was their field of dreams. It is where the oldest Little leaguers play their games, a field tllat inspired awe in all the younger players who one day dreamed of playing there. But a year-long problem with vandalism has left the facility on Middle Road, in Bayport, a near shambles. The dugouts have been wrecked 1 the concession stand broken into and items stolen; broken glass is as ubiquitous as it is dangerous and the brand-new sprinlder system destroyed. The AAA field, where the 14-15 year olds play, is located in the middle of the Islip Town-owned BaM>ort Commons. lt is not the only one of the five fields to suffer vandalism damage, but its more developed facility have made it a more inviting target for vandals. According to parents in Bayport-Blue Point Litile League, damages include fires being set, caiS driving on and tearing up the fields, concession stand propane gas lines were damaged and bleache~ overturned. All these acts of destruction have the Little League~ and their parents fed up. \At this point, we'\re really at a loss of what to do,\ said Little League Vice President Laura Stapleton.
